BMC Street Filters
I've read all the info on BMC air filters and decided to get the street version for my purposes.
Here is my question: I know that with the BMC Race Filter, you simply oil it every so often and it is said to basically last a lifetime with proper care. Is this also true with the BMC Street version or will I have to replace those like normal filters?
I was thinking if I had to replace the street filters more often then the race then perhaps I will risk it and just get the race filters.

Its the same as a Race just not as flowing. And if you own a K&N filter or have seen one thats what looks like and you can clean it with a K&N kit same concept.

I think you're making a good decision by using the street filter. I haven't heard of anyone having engine damage from the race filter even running constently on the street but there must be some additional risk. The performance dif is probably negligable for street use. As I'm sure you know, the filter isn't going to make all that much extra power no matter what you go with. I have race filter for fun. Still have not tried it.

I have a K&N installed dry...no oil, BMC is a good filter, just keep it clean. Hey you have the
metal air filter cover on the 2009. The early models were plastic that leaked.

A K&N installed DRY? wow, I'm glad I don't ever buy used bikes from people doing those types of things.

He had a reason, a K&N before you oil after cleaning will flow a little more air. If I go on a trip I will oil it so it will filter better. It may be used but it is Paid For. Wow I guess you never worked in a Dyno room with a Super Flow........................... Flow Bench.
