Just want to add my .02
NO.
I have not regretted turning down the extra waranty yet. My bike is close to 1 year old and has ~6000 miles. Had no malfunctions at all. If anything serious goes wrong with the bike in the first year, the standard warranty should cover it. If there is a minor bug to work out, you can do it yourself. In fact, a lot of owners don't want to send their bike to the shop for fear of them breaking it. I was convinced of the possibilety of this happenning after checking over the dealer prep.
Follow the threads here and you'll have a heads up on anything that is remotely possible to go wrong, how to avoid it and how to fix it.

I just purchased my 2007 from a friend and he paid for the 4 year warranty. I need to have it put in my name. Guess I better do this soon.....Thanks for the reminder.
