Old Guy,
I was very happy with my 06 14 and it was hot (not as hot as my ZX-11) but good advice none the less. I like the idea of getting guard for the radiator, many sand trucks on I-4 at 5 in the morning.

I still have small issues like the fuel filter or lack there of and tune ups are more of an requirement then the VFR, but some here have said replacing the spark plugs every 15K should solve the problem at least for a little while. The fuel filter, I may see if I can put an in line filter if the separator is not also a filter. I still don't know the answer to that question.

Man don't lurk, I'm cool with advice from everyone.

Thanks Rob

Today's Details:

Well I went to my dealer today and if his numbers are an indicator of what I'm in for, well it's doubtful I will be moving up to the 14. Seems the 08 ZX-14 (the one I did not really want) and my bike, I would need to cut a check for a little less then 7000 dollars OTD. It did not include a center-stand, prepaid tune ups, pretty much tax and tag. A far cry from 2500 I offered for the 07.

I asked how much he was going to give me for my 07 VFR/ABS with 2 year 2 months of warranty remaining and he replied 4000 dollars. I like to think I'm a reasonable person and I think if I were to take 4K for the VFR I'd deserve to be sent to the funny farm. Hell, I was offered 3300 for the 02 with 119K on her.

You know, sometimes I don't think people can gauge me very well. If I were to tell you that I worked as a car salesman would you not think I understood what was going on, further wouldn't you try to make me a deal that was reasonable? I know there was plenty of room to work but I have to say I felt insulted. I know that people BS these people all the time. Maybe when I said that I wanted to work with them he figured I got the screws put to me at the dealer with the 07.

Well I will talk to the guys with the 07 later this week and if they do as my local dealer did I will be on the VFR for another year. We will give them a shot, I don't think the numbers I showed earlier were unreasonable. I think I may be off by a couple hundred dollars but not 3500+.

Robert

P.S. You know I can't be nasty or mean, even when I'm insulted but I'll have you all know I did ask him this Question. "In 1 year if I double the mileage to say 60K how much less is my bike worth? I continued, "3500" he somewhat agreed.

Well all something interesting happened to me on the way home today. I was riding the 2002 home from work and I heard click, click click. I then felt a strange vibration and the power was greatly reduced but there was power and with a steady hand I made it home. Something about riding a broken bike 40 miles away from home you start hoping nothing else fails and if it does where would I pull off. Well I got home and the engine is making a strange sucking and it feels as though I was running on 3 cylinders...Kinda sounds like this might be a costly tune-up eh??? Well without a doubt this will have to be addressed before I can pull the trigger on a zx-14. I have so many VFR parts this may force me to keep the VFR at least another year. I'm OK with this, but in fairness to the other dealers I will have to hear them all out before I say no. Maybe I can get 2k for a VFR that needs work? I'll keep you all in the loop.

07 VFR 28,585 miles
02 VFR 119,473 miles and holding
