They must work, I've seen some V-twins that evidently could hardly pull away due to the strong magnetic force.

I tried one with no luck. I was told buy one of the city workers here that
those loops are'nt sensitive enough to be triggered by a small magnet.

He said shut your bike off, then restart start it. The magnetic force from
the starter motor would be enough to trigger the lite !

That did'nt work either ....... so I still run red lites. (most of the time)

A magnet out of an old speaker would likely work without spending any $. Those radio speaker mags are usually quite strong. If it doesn't work, no loss.

Some cities have the wires in the payment deeper than others.
This will have a effect on the performance of this magnet.

Humm,
I was going to mention the Rare Earth magnets (Ebay 190282266586).
I have some of these N52's around the house and believe me when they have a warning about fingers (skin), and these!

I've had mates who 'had a go at me', when they cut themselves, mainly blisters - after all my warnings. "You didn't tell me properly how powerful they were..."!

But you can get smaller ones and less powerful ones N42, 48's etc on ebay cheap as chips.

They are strong as f$&^@, but i just remembered that they are strong when close together...so not sure if they would 'cover the distance'.

Maybe a speaker magnet would work best as mentioned earlier.

Great for mounting tools on
