Bob, are you using a Clems pan? I am a little nervous about any pan that reduces capacity and shortens the pickup tube. It seems that you would have a greater chance of running the pickup dry under hard acceleration. Since my bike is 95% for racing, it sees some pretty hard launches on a regular basis.
I'm not sure if all of the modified pans use a shortened pickup; but it is a concern for me.

I have a cut pan, its only loses a lil oil capacity. I only drag-race my bike, and its been good. But for high speen runs i could see ya wanting more oil. But i dont know any1 who makes a pan with more capacity, that you can run street exhaust with.

I have been running Clem's pan for 2 years now without any problems. What little oil difference you loose with the cut pan you can make up with the longer oil filter which holds more oil. Mobil 1 and Purolator both make the longer oil filter. I'll post the model numbers when I get home from work this evening.
Thanks.

Good point, Rick. I do run the bike at Maxton, and it holds 6th gear wfo for 10-11 seconds. That may also be an area of concern with the reduced sump capacity.
I am more thinking about the volume of the sump, not so much the overall capacity.

Clem knows his stuff and sells excellent products.
The issue I have heard of is with turbo and BIG nos shots.
The motor can spin up so fast the oil can not return quick enough, so essentially the top end is flooded with oil while the pan and crank go dry momentarily, add the extra oil required for a turbo and I think increased volume is substantiated.
Many have gotten away with the stock oil pan too though
I wanted the adams pan due to the increased oil volume, and ability to hold the oil under the pickup on hard launches.
It all really boils down to what you intend to do with the bike, and how it will be used.
The adams pan would be overkill for most ppl IMO.

Dubious,
I think you are 100% correct, If I were running a turbo or a big shot of nitrous I would opt for the Adams pan. The extra capacity and the piece of mind would warrant the extra expense for me.

I'd love to have an Adams pan...but they are all Sidewinder or Turbo only, right?

I ride the bike on the street and I occasionally drag race, thats really all I intend to do with the bike. I have noticed the lip on the oil pan is chipped and I really would like to purchase a pan with the drain plug relocated before something horrible occurs.

No valve springs, been beating on this bike since new, no problems. I think the things that have saved me were, 1st shift b4 the rev-limiter, keep oil changed, and alot of timing pulled.
