speedo setting?

Thawing out from winter - just spent the day putting the bike back together. I have a speedohealer on the way. Can anyone provide me with the correction factor required for a 16 front 45 rear combination?
Thanks in advance.

you can punch it in on their website and it will tell you what to press in.

stock speedo is off by 8%, so subtract that right off the top
to hit the rev limiter on the stock gears, subtract another 8%.
I used -8 + -10, so i would know my speedo is off by -10% reading low, but could still hit the rev limiter.

stock gearing= 41 / 17 = 2.41

41 /16 = 2.56 therefor 2.41 / 2.56= .94 or -8% + -8% = -16%,
I still used total -18% to be sure I was hitting the rev limiter. ( 16/41 gearing will pull very close to 186 mph stock limiter)

45 / 16 = 2.81 therefor 2.41 / 2.81 = .85 or - 15 %, therefor use -8% + -15% = -23%
your speedo will be very accurate, and top speed will be around 158 mph limited by the rev limiter.

To surmise, you need to subtract 8% for speedo error.
Then subtract the percentage of gear ratio change.

I have not ran top speed events with timing lights or radar guns,
This as close as my math has gotten me.
The 8% speedo error has been verified by many in the past though already.

i use -8% for stock(17/41) just to verify dubious's numbers. it is right on with the gps.

Hope you don't like using the gear indicator.....it will only be half useful w/ those gears.

agreed.
Mine would show the proper (6th) gear when i made the gear change, then after about 4 seconds the ecu would intercept with its calculated value to 5th gear indicated.

pardon,my ignorant question;
does the healer will affect the gear readings? if so how?
any inputs?
thanks

depends on how much you adjust but at -8% it is ok down in the lower gears but shows 6th briefly then reverts to 5th after shifting to 6th at normal speeds. it will show 6 at extremely low speed for 6th gear. but mostly it works fine for 1-5 gears with the healer set at -8%
it adjusts how many pulses are recieved by the speedo from the sending unit near your front sprocket.

the ecu computes what gear it should be in when it see's rpm, speed, gps and reverts to the computed data, rather than the gps voltage indication, and sends a computed signal, rather than actual signal to the dash

of course it is!
It defeats the speed limiter, and corrects your speedometer!

Without the speedohealer, ...If you drag race in the 1/4 mile with low gears like 16-44 or 16-45 with motor work, nos or turbo, you'll be quite dissapointed to have the limiter preventing you from exceeding ~155 + mph , effecting the trap speed and ET!

Your gear reading is screwed up when you pull your secondaries anyway.

It displays the gear based on calculations...not direct sensing. If you correct for more than 16/42 (or equal ratios) you will see 1/2/3/3/4/5 as you shift. If you pull the clutch in and maintain highway speed it will go up to 6 as RPMs drop but roadspeed remains.

The delay is the calculations lag....more evidence of nondirect sensing.
