1st ride in months :)

Winter is finally winding down here in Wisconsin and we had some 50 degree temps and the ice was off the roads. I got my baby out for the first time since November.

Wow is that thing fast I took it easy for the most part. It looks like it will be a while before we see that kind of weather again but I got my fix for a few weeks at least. You boys down south sure are spoiled.

I managed to take mine out on Sunday, it reached 60 degrees here in Charleston, WV. It was awesome. I couldn't really play around on the twisties though, way too many cinders on the road. I did give it a little gas for a few seconds on the interstate though.

I sorta kinda forgot how much power that bike has. I was quickly reminded though.

You lucky guys. My bike has been tucked up in the garage since new year. We've had an unusually cold winter this year and the highway authorities have been spreading salt and grit around, not the best stuff to ride on or have plastered all over the bike.
I'm really looking forward to getting out now. Unfortuntely my dear Mum has just passed away and riding the bike has been a low priority with family to support and things to organize. Never mind though, the weather is improving day by day and I'll get my fix very soon.

Yep, we are quite spoiled down here. Usually about 11 months of riding weather. Going to go to the dragstrip this evening and it is supposed to be in the low 70's. Just remember us when it is July and August and well past triple digits. LOL

That's why they make bike trailers so we can go to the nice areas during times of extreme heat!

Until I was 33 I lived in the beach cities of Orange County, Ca. Average mid winter days in the 60's. Now in Western Washington State I was driving in 4" of fresh snow yesterday in my car. I refuse to let my bike sit unridden for over a month. I ride with temps in the 30's with a snowmobile suit as long as the roads are dry.

Yup here in Oregon the weather in winter can suck for periods you have to endure but we get breaks of nice stuff. The bike really is a little faster in the winter and with the long breaks between it sure feels fast. I don't mind for the most part because of all the nice places to ride in good weather with little traffic. Lots of up and down hills with curves and straights lets this bike ride to its strengths lots of torque good enough handling for the conditions and plenty top end power. Almost forgot pure smooth ride and engine etc. Makes me want to go for a ride.

... True, but I figured in the keys it couldn't be THAT hot with the ocean breeze. It was 40 at home last time I was there, dang sure felt good to me!

Ha ha ha! The problem is the frequency and the strength of those breezes. People in Key West are starting over every summer it seems from Mother Nature's wind chime tosser.

Riding Season Start’s in Apr and end’s in Oct… Right now I still have 7 feet of snow on the front lawn and I have not seen the pavement on my driveway since mid November.

Note: It is still cold in Apr and Oct it gets down around freezing most days but as long as the roads are clear and the sun is shining you can bundle up with your winter kit and hit the road for a short ride.

So don’t rub it in to bad…

Hi rich. I'm in Milwaukee if you want to get together for some riding some time. Can you believe I missed the opportunity to take the 14 out on Thursday AND Friday? I'm just getting the last plastics back on and I didn't want to go out with no front directionals. Hope the weather stays a while, I'll be ready this week.

I'm actually glad we have had some rain. No reason to be too concerned about road salt now.

That would be great Rook. I am up in Oshkosh and am in that neck of the woods often. I will get a hold of you when later in the year. Hopefully we are over the cold weather hurdle!

Bike trailers are for pussies and harley owners. I ride my bike everywhere. Texas to cali in late june with temps into the mid 120's and 40-70mph gusts from lubbock to the mountains east of san diego.

Lol Bawls, you would have loved it up here in January with -25 degree temps (not wind chill) and 20 mph winds. Wind chill was about -50.

Bawls is a balls out maniac! 120MPH winds is nothing more than a sneeze to this hardcore crotch rocket pilot. I on the other hand prefer to preserve my ability to walk upright.

LOL!!
It was still 5C here in Toronto at 6pm tonight after work...and I haven't uncovered my bike since October!
We had heavy rain last night and all the snow is gone here in the city and my driveway and streets are dry! So I had to go for a blast around the block!!! Even did a nice wheelie!!
The cold weather will be back tomorrow!

All this, with a 6-1/2 week old broken ankle!! 6 screws and a plate! I'm doing good!

i was stationed in chicago for a while and can tell you that the cold is miserable. complaining about heat is uncalled for though. the coldest i've ever been was duluth mn in jan with the winds blowing off of lake superior. If i lived there i would invest in a snowmobile for the winter.
