Poll Question:
Best Gas Mileage out of your 14 is?

[url]http://www.dragtimes.com/images/10305-2005-Mercedes-Benz-CLK55-AMG.jpg[url/] Like I said before, I tired to run alone but a new MB like this one and I had what you might call... The crazy things you can still do is take a chance at my age is this bike hauls the mail. That day ruined my fuel run.
Yesterday, I had a loop that was more or less consistent. No incidents either way as was traffic flow. I had a fuel run set in so many hacks you might say. I am just curious being I have the bike bone stock. Say as bone stock as your mod is match yours in so many words.

Therefore, it really does not matter what your setup is. The more mods, the better the mile per gallon range = Good or Bad. Here is what I did. I set the bike ~ 5 deep in codes:

1. Service Code 12 ~ Inlet Air Press Sensor
2. Sc 14 ~ Water Temp Sensor
3. Sc 15 ~ Atmospheric Pressure Sensor
4. Sc 25 ~ GPS (tre)
5. Sc 62 ~ Subthrottle Valve Actuator

When the MBz and I were hooking it, I was that close on his ass to hear that exhaust note. I mean, I could read the print on the tail lights is he was not about to get away is no way! Now, that run was with everything closed down but the locked c62.
WOT set do i want to run in if I had my choice? Bone stock felt so much better is the less hacks, the better the throttle feel.

Knowing how that incident was a pretty good test on the hack vs. bone stock... What do you think the gas mileage of both sets being the hack burns so much fuel and the stock left alone is not the hack set is who had the better mileage from Loop A to Loop B?

Take a guess is add your best mileage is I never broke the speed limit @65mph was max mph. Out of the 4 loops being I hooked up with the MB is scratch the 3rd is add it anyway for an average of = ?

More like to prove a point being, I think there is no difference in performance being if there was; more fuel would be used. I will reveal my fuel numbers shortly.

Bone stock - 43mpg according to "ave mileage" display. Mathmatical calculation shows this to actually be more like 38 mpg.

Thanks, Rook. MB and I hammered the tank for that wash of a loop; @ 37.50mpg of approx 3 miles of hard throttle, then back to steady legal speeds became that average 72 mile loop. It is pretty close to 38; so far, the math works out close to yours seems like.

Right now I'm at 27 mpg avg. That is about 1000 miles though. On the first 8000 I logged, I got 33.3.

gilbert, How about the mods? 33.3 unmodded is 27 mpg now? We talking stock cans, pc only? See what you need to add is a huge drop from 38 to 27 is what gives? If you WOT a lot is say it. Or say I am average with these mods is this mpg.

Cause you sure are not about to blame a tre/hack for the fuel drop is no way hose say.

33.3 mpg was my avg for 8k miles. my mods were tsukigi full system, flies out, filter, pcIII.

the avg mpg reset 1k miles ago since I disconnected my battery while relocating my pcIII.

27 mpg avg since resetting the battery and same mods except a full muzzy m10, and different tune. I would say the biggest difference is I haven't been doing long rides. It's just too cold to do that, so I warm up my bike, blast around doing a lot of wot and then put the bike back. That's why I'm getting crappy gas mileage. Plus I don't think my tune is very good.

It really does not matter what formula you use. You have two numbers being the gas you used and the miles taken.

You have no idea what occurred hacking into the system is call me crazy? Say, if you knew FI, you would see the fallacy in, "Timing Retarded." Like prove the obvious is what I just experimented with is the 1Atmo as opposed to the analog fuel trim.

Care to guess what happened to the fuel mileage being stock or deep in a hack set with no telemetry plugged in?

Here is what I did to dispute any type of retard is hack my GPS, (plus more). What I did was weigh my fuel. I would top it off to the rim of the filler neck. The scale is pretty accurate but my filling to the brim might be off a few ounces/give or take.
Therefore, I think I can say there is an electronic "Redundancy" occurring to the backup or fail-safe which sets the same fuel trim as in one direction, the average mileage was, 42.5mpg.
The hacked direction was the same base mile being 42.9 is did I over fill or under fill my slight calc in weight?
Say no matter the hack being as deep as 5 codes say there is no retard going on. There are no hot maps you can tune. You gain or lose no mpg [being 5 codes all in play] is who is kidding whom.

If I remember correctly the best MPG I got with my ZX-14 was 45. I was traveling thru PA where the speed limit was 60-65 for the most part. Most of the time I got 42 but it 38 was not uncommon. I ride my ZX like most would drive their car.

I'm in NJ and I get 31 mpg with 93 octance. I'm a big guy 6'5 and 275 so I get wind and weight resistance. This is all around riding. Hard riding and local riding. Definitely more if I were only doing highway miles, probably 35-38 mpg. My mods are listed below.

2006 First 2000 miles I got about 32-35mph Stock with pretty short rides (20 miles avg per ride- back and forth to work stuff) Short speed bursts... some 100 mile rides with 2 up.
After mods, flies out, full MUZZYS Stainless, PC3, dyno... I normally got 36-38mpg with the same riding but with a few more long rides. I noticed that at above 60mph I got a lot better mpg. The bike also ran a lot cooler with the mods and I believe the weight loss, flies out, motor break in, better breathing and running cooler was a big help.
Someone on here also mentioned, (and I was able to confirm this myself) that keeping in 5th under 60 mph on shorter rides did result in better gas mileage also. I check my mileage with gas fill ups and not with the computer.
Never raced the bike and I drive pretty conservatively. No leaks, bike runs cool. Clutch feels like new, new set of tires... no further problems noted. Approximately 10,000 miles now. Still about the same mpg. (Wisconsin riding) Bike never pings... I am pretty safe with 87 octane. The best I got was low 40's (42-43) on long rides... I normally fill up at 180 miles on trip OD. I remember one tank I got around 25mpg and that was just after mods... (I could not keep the throttle from opening up every chance I got....) Dodge truck gets about 12mpg so I am looking forward to Spring time around here!!! Wife's BMW gets 32-35mpg. Her Jeep gets 13... also looking forward to Spring there too.

I did a quick 115 mile ride last sunday (almost all highway at 75-85 mph) and the bike went through 3.3 gallons. Granted, there were no roll on's or much of anything fun. My 08' has a full Hindle/Brocks SS/Ti system, -1 on the front sprocket, PCIII, and a BMC filter. Almost 35 mpg. Not too bad.

I'm not too happy with the fuel guage though. After just a bit more than 3 gallons of use, it was down to 12 line remaining.

Best Mileage

I have Area P Slip on and everything else bone stock. I get 37-38 mpg for all around riding that includes an 80 mile commute, around town riding and Sunday blasts around the state.

Bone stock my 08 gets 30 mpg, no more no less. Factory readout agrees perfectly with gallons put in at the pump and miles driven.

Hey Rook,

Yep, I'm planning on doing some squatting around here for a while. Do you remember OldKawBoy ? My 14 used to be his.

BTW, the other night I finally got around to ordering the kill switch lanyard and a front end strap. It's looking like I'll be track ready in maybe 3 weeks of so from now.
