Helmet cam/Camcorder
What recoding methods have you guys used and how do you rate its performance.

Never used any video equipment on a bike before but helmet cams seem like they would provide the shakiest picture. Nice to be able to pan/switch views but a tank or fairing cam would be my choice. A helmwt/fairing combo edited together would be real nice.

I have a tank mount on the way to use with my camcoder, but after viewing some riders on utube with helmet cams they seem to catch the best angles.
But I have no idea what devices they are using. If anyone knows of a good setup plz let me know.
(there is nothing like capturing the moment you walk your buddy down and glace over at him as you pull away: then e-mailing it to him the next day  )

I believe sticks has a pretty good setup. I want to say that he's just using a techmount with a video camera that accepts an SD card since solid state memory doesn't skip.

Thanks for the reply Bawl's, but I am looking for info on a helmet cam so that the video pans as the helmet moves to give that first person point of view. Anyone?

I just bought an ATC2k off of ebay. Good price. It is a helmet cam. I attached it to my helmet while working out on my road bicycle today and it seemed to do OK. One problem is there is no way of telling what you are shooting...if the angle is correct until you look at it later on your TV or pc. Shakes around a bit. I'm going to try it while mountain biking this Saturday. Can't wait to try it at the Drag track, but I doubt it will do well at this time, because it is getting dark at six, and they don't open the track until then. I've noticed it doesn't pick up well in low light. Still going to try it, though, probably next Wednesday.

I got the GoPro wide angle for Christmas and I love it. I mounted it on the bike and made a few passes through Deals Gap and then some high speed runs. You can also take still photos with it or set it up to take them every 2 seconds till the SD card runs out of memory.
Last week I took it to Cozumel and snorkled with it to ! It is good up to 100 feet deep so if you happen to wreck the bike into a lake then it videos for the first 100 feet deep !!
