Hi all! New here and the site looks pretty kool. I am building a turbo 14 and was wondering if anyone makes an intercooler for the 14 yet? Thanks in advance!

Welcome and get to reading. When I first joined I spent a couple months reading back through all of the old topics. You will find a lot of good info here And good luck with the build.

if you use the search engine use the one on the upper left. it's not too great, but steve will definitely argue otherwise.

p.s. (whispering) I heard that he doesn't even ride a zx14 any more... but don't tell anyone

Already searched for intercoolers and have found nothing. Nobody seems to make one. Searched this site as well. Thanks

Lightest, most simple'and probably the cheapest intercooler out there dry nos! Use boost signal to spray a small 10-12 hp shot direct into stacks. On a 375 hp turbo 14, it drops EGT'S 200 degrees, so how cool do think that intake charge is. I have no way of testing that yet but i was able to add 3lbs of fuel psi static, and 3-5 % fuel to the 80 and 100 cells respectifly. This is not to make up for the nos because a 10 shot wont go from 354hp to 375.8. Boost stayed the same at 13lbs . .........Bill

Hyperbike Performance Centers just came out with (within the last month, and what they claim to be) the first intercooler for the zx14. From the questions I've asked, here's what I've gathered. It's $1000, works with a few turbo kits (I believe), it's air to water, uses a completely separate water system then the bike, and has a reservoir that you can fill with ice.

I am very happy report that testing the done on my custom water/air turbo intercooler for the ZX-14 is complete and I am clearly amazed at the results. Using an infrared thermometer we are able to see a huge change in the ambient temp of the air entering the charge tube, from the turbo outlet to the plenum (air box) inlet. Almost a 70 degree change over 16" of tubing travel while at idle.

Keep in mind that the bike is not moving and it was warmed up to the mid bar on the temp gauge. The heat exchanger works even better when the bike is moving pushing ram air through the water cooler, enhancing the cooling effect. At idle the small fan provides more than enough cooling. I knew this was going to be effective but to these kinds of results on my very first try is super neat stuff.

See video below.

If that's the only place you can get it from then that's cool... But personally, I wouldn't give greg 1 fucking cent of my money. I'd pretty much rather do without.

how much does it weigh i wonder?
a small shot of NOS makes an excellent intercooler, doesn't weigh anything and ~ $300....

Glad to see someone is still developing parts for the zx14, and hasn't jumped to the Hyabusa ship...

I have never had issue with Greg.
I bought some parts off him and he was always fair and friendly...

I too am curious to see how much weight it adds, but it would be nice to never have to refill nitrous bottles. Plus, if you are lsr ing, you need to have a large bottle to last a whole mile or more.

I wouldn't think that it would take too much for a 10hp shot. There are lots of people making multiple passes at the dragstrip spraying 30-40shots. My friend jason just made 14 passes on what I believe is a 1lb bottle spraying the entire 1/8th and still had nitrous to spare at the end of the day. That was a 40shot.
