bt-016

Thinking about getting these for the upcoming riding season. Wondering if anyone has tried them out?

I replaced a set of Shinko's with the 016's. They are SO much better! (the Bridgestones) It was super-easy to spin the rear Shinko when leaned over, the 016 grips under all but the wildest throttle opening. The center stripe will spin when its cold, but that lessens after a few miles and some heat builds up. Mileage is good for a sport-oriented tire. I've got a couple thousand miles on mine with a good mix of curves and interstates. They're no touring tire when it comes to wear, but they don't seem to sacrifice any grip int he corners, either. I'll definitely repeat the purchase when these are done.

For me at least, they have been very confidence inspiring. They have a ton of grip and offer a lot of lean angle. They seem to be so very smooth when going into corners. I'll dive into a curve and the tires just hold whatever line I want. I don't find myself fighting the bike as much to make it go where I want to go. Gotta try them to know what I mean. Good luck!

Got mine from a local store also that happens to be pretty reasonable.

alright fellas, be warned if you are coming from a tire with a non-uniform curvature like the Pilot Power series! The BT-016 is a throwback to the last gen of tires that had perfectly symmetrical curvatures. 2 of my friends (on a 05 636 and zx10) have made the 2CT to 016 jump and both said the same thing: Takes a suprisingly long time to get fully comfortable with the lean-in characteristics of them.

Or should I say 'lack of' lean in help? The curve of the Pilot Powers actually helps the bike to lean into the corner, reducing leaning effort. The 016's are perfectly neutral though, which seemed to really throw them guys for a loop. I rode the zx6 both before and after, and noticed a difference... well, actually I liked it alot better with the BT-016's. lol Traction-wise they both claim equal or better traction than the PP 2CT's, with noticeably better feedback from the ground.

i never had any problems out of the 014's and they hook great at the dragstrip. Pretty much the only bad thing that I could say about them is that they wore out in 1500 miles. Then again, I also HATED the fact that i got 1200 miles out of my 2ct's and will never own another set.

I've ran diablo corsa III's for quite a while, just wanting to try something different, but wanted to stay with the multi-compound style tire.

Where's that tire test that had the BT-016 winning the comparison test between the Qualifiers and the 2CTs along with a couple others?

depends on who is doing the testing. I can find articles where each one of those win. Some of us are always trying tires.

For the guys that say the 014 was junk, obviously they are not riders. Posers, but definetly not riders.

The 002 racing and racing street are in my opinion, one of the best tires ever made.
The 016 should be even better than the 014, which was tough to beat.

My BT-014's had only decent traction, which after half a dozen corners (or any high speed riding) became REALLY greasy and slid everywhere! Hadn't seen a tire that overheated that fast since the early 90's. It WAS fun, of course, sliding both tires on the lower speed corners, but not exactly the route to a faster time through the corners. Here is whats left of mine at 4000 miles (you will note the sandpaper look of it, those of you who know will recognize that as a sign a tire was overheated and then punished badly):

Check out my videos if you want, aZX14blurr , but anybody who calls me a poser better be able to back up there words.

My BT016 are sitting right here, cant wait to have them mounted. I'd have to agree I think the 014's are garbage.. But thats just me dont get mad.. And i prefer the more modern look of the tread on the 16's...
