Airshifter/Nitrous install Pics

I finally got done with the shifter/nitrous install. I will say that it wasnt hard, but it took a lot of time for me to get it neat and clean looking. I have done a few nitrous installs on cars and thought that this would be a breeze since it was a bike, but no it was more difficult becuase how little room you have to work with. Here are some pics. I will have some results to post next saturday. I just want to get either a 2lb or 2.5lb bottle to replace the 1lber. Does anyone have any pics of a 2 or 2.5lb bottle that is mounted under a catalyst drag seat?

+1

Did you test it with the access plates off to see how accurate the spray is?

The Muzzy site doesn't say much. Is there any way to rich-en up the gasoline while spraying?

I dont know how the spray bar works. I didnt have the bottle filled when I was installing the kit. Im just going to add fuel with the pc3 when I plan on spraying it. Im going to put it on the dyno next week so I can make sure the afr is safe while spraying. Ill also get to see how the street map with and without the air filter does against the track map without the filter (it doesnt seem to affect the bikes performance at the track at all).

And getting the pc3 back there was fun. At first I was like there is no way in hell that these plugs are going to fit between the frame right under the gas tank. But I have seen pictures of them being back there so I just kept telling myself that it has to. And finally I was able to finess it through there.

excellent work! neat as it should be. but that bottle position is fine for a shifter. not going to work well for the spray though.

Thanks, but why wont it work for the nitrous? I have the pickup tube to the bottom of the bottle. And when the bike accelerates the liquid nitrous will be pushed to the back of the bottle and it should use every last drop, I would think. It wouldnt work to good on a dyno, but it should work good on the track. Right?

Racers,

Very neat and professional job but a bottle comment--

There is a syphon line in the NOS bottles, at least with the 2 and 2.5 bottles, which sucks up the NOS from the bottom of the bottle and it is pointed to one side. As you have it now you will probably need to reblunish your bottle after every run or two to keep the NOS available for the spiphon tube which can be a lot of work.

To correct this you either need to raise the front end of your bottle (for gravity) or turn the bottle around and have the rear to the front. .

In 2007 I faced the same challenge as you and my setup worked very well.

By the way I have two 2lb bottles and two 2.5 lb bottles for sale but I can't advertise them here so forget about reading this post.

I see what you are saying and I appreciate the reply, but I was thinking that the ZX14 makes its own gravity while going down the track. I still think that the liquid nitrous will be pushed to the back of the tank where I have the siphon tube? You have tried it like this and it didnt work to well?

And I know your not selling any bottles, but if you were you could probably pm me

thanks

Try mounting it this way, no siphon tube, tucks up tight out of the way, and milks the bottle dry!

Thanks for the pics and suggestions, but Id really like to keep the bottle hidden if possible. I like the clean look. But if I only end up using half the bottle the way it is then I will have to do something else. Once I extend the swingarm I plan on putting it in front of the rear tire.

Halvefast has the best mounting position for the bottle with no tube. if it had a tube he would just have to put it the other way in the brackets. angled with the tail doesnt work very well unless you are pulling a big wheelie the entire length of the track
i had mine flat(slightly better than going with the tail) and could only get one pass out of it. 2 pounder with siphon tube at the back/bottom. on a 90 shot it used 1 pound per pass, but i could only get 1 run out of a 60 shot which used less than a pound. and i have a seperate co2 tank for the shifter

im upgrading to a 5 pounder and mounting it in the swingarm in the position/angle Halvefast is using.

it will be inconsistant. as you go down track nitrous (liquid) will be sloshing around in the bottle. while the tube is stationary.
it seems the best way is upside down and tilted.

Not to rain on your parade... but you would have been much better off with a direct port spray bar. That bar has been proven to lean out the outer 2 cylinders. Believe me I know!!! $6000.00 later!!! This topic has been discussed in an earlier post on here and Psychobike.. There is no way that bar can evenly distribute the nos evenly to all 4 cylinders!!! Just an early warning!!
