Help w/PCIII

Okay, here it is. I went onto Dynojet's website and I noted that there are two kinds of Power Commanders. One says it is Street Approved and is for people who use pump gas and have their air filters in place, and the other is a Race version that is made for no air filter and race fuel which I do not plan to do. Should I still get the Race version, or get the Street version, or should I just wait for the Power Commander V to come out since I have a 2009 bike?

Also, is there a plug & play set I can buy to make installation a snap?

I didnt know that there were 2 different pc3's. Are you sure its not just different maps? Because I have a street map, which I run pump gas and the stock air filter. And I also have a race map which Im supposed to pull the air filter and run race fuel. Its just 2 different maps that I can upload.

One's a power commanderIII EX.....the others the power commanderIII Race. The only diff is that the EX locks out the 0-4000rpm range so you can't adjust them, which is where the pcIII does some of its best work, in smoothing out low end/cruising range throttle response. Dynojet did that to make Cali happy, CARB claimed dynojet was effecting the emmissions range by changing the lower rpm fueling, and threatened to fine them a million bucks. So DJ made the EX version for California. Don't get the EX unless you have to......it only gives you half the adjustment range of the race (49 state) version.

Dynojet recently got screwed by the government for huge bux because their good stuff didn't say "for race use only" because of emissions....

now they have an environmental friendly model the tree-huggers use, and one stamped race use only designed for those of us that want performance

You can easily tell them apart. The ex (street) version has NO adjustment buttons on the front. The usb (race) version has the low, mid, high adjustment buttons on it.

Well, I will definitely focus on the "Race Version", but I just call DynoJet and they said their new Power Commander V for 2009 and above bikes will be out later this month or early February.... I think I will just wait to see what that entails.

Here's the PCV website: http://www.powercommander.com/powercommander_hd/

A tree hugger on a sport bike? I'm confused...don't they pour wheat germ and hemp into their mopeds and call it good?

I wrapped myself around a tree during a track day last year. Wheat germ & hemp wouldnt get it. took morphine & oxicondone to recover. Dont suggest tree hugging on a sport bike.

Chad,
Are you pulling a leg here??!!? The "buttons" work for the "right" people with the "right" knowledge and tools. I suggest a dyno tune and leave the "buttons" alone afterwards.

Ninja_Knight,
are you adding a pipe or doing mods where you need the pcIII ? I wish I had waited on my custom map. I've since done added mods to my 06 and will have to do another someday. I "played with my buttons" to enrich 3000 to 4500 rpm, but I know my A/F isnt right on there. If you are going with Brocks stuff just go with that cat the whole way. Its the easier, softer, FASTEST way. I went a fair less costly way but see Brocks was the best for 06 14's

I decided by using the sound advice of many in this website to go with the Titanium Shorty Street Smart system. I also plan to pull the flies at the same time, and I FULLY intend to follow Brock's recommendations step by step. I love the look & sound of the Muzzy pipe but I am no mechanic and Brock gives you everything you need start to finish.

There are two, I just assumed everyone used the USB (race) model. I do it works great with other mods, I don't know anything about the EX (street) model.

The buttons are simple: With the bike key turned on, but the bike not running, hold ALL THREE buttons down and start the bike. Now you can push any 1 of the buttons to select that rpm range. Once you have done that, you either push that same button again to raise the full (I think 1 bar equals 2% increase in fuel) or you can hold that button down to lower the fuel for that range. If there is no input on the buttons within a few seconds, the PCIII turns the buttons off and you have to kill and repeat the first steps to activate the buttons again. If my description confused anyone, I think the Dynojet site has the downloadable manual for the PCIII and it details how to utilize the butoons.

Purpose of the buttons is to easily modify your A/F on the fly withou a computer. Helps you adjust things on the run.....
