Deployed...
Alright, I've got about 5 months left on my deploment. I would like to put 1500 back for my bike. All I have done to her is D&D slip ons. I Don't know what I should do for the bike. I prefer performance over looks any day. Could I get some ideas?

I buy everything used..... I haven't even spent $600 for all my mods and they were all in perfect brand new condition. Good things come to those who wait...... I just upgraded to a muzzy m10 gp system so my tsukigi system is for sale.

absolutely!! The wifey already approved the Nomar tire changer, and Iknow that I want a pcIII, and no flies. I was thinking about a steering damper and better tires. I didn't want to change pipes. However if the gain is enough I will. I really like the way the D&D's sound and I like having dual pipes

luckily I'm an aircraft structural and hydraulic mech, so there isn't that much danger to me short of falling of a stand or something rediculous. But I definately want to come home safe to ride another day. I would love a package. There isn't much interaction over here other than who you work with and not to many of them enjoy riding as I do.

I know all too well... I'm a navy rescue swimmer in the SH-60B community which means that I only deploy on small deck ships (Frigates, destroyers, and cruisers) When I go out it's me and 299 of my best friends for 6 months. The upside is that I'm doing another southpac so I get to hit port every couple of weeks :P.

that's a pretty cool thing you're doing bawls!!!!!!! My brother and cousin are both in the Marines (plus 2 of my good high school friends), and they all enjoy recieving stuff. Thanks for your service! If you're happy with the sound of the bike, then I wouldn't worry about getting a full system now that you already have slip-ons and like the look. I just always steer people away from slip-ons because they cost almost the same amount as a full system, and they don't have the same performance..... If I had $1500 and I was you......
pcIII $260 on ebay
pull flies $FREE.99
MPS Nitrous System $400
Schnitz Nitrous controller $170
I don't know what else I would get...... maybe a steering dampener.

The 8ballers are an HS squadron (HS-8) They Fly SH-60F's. they do more of the planeguard for the carrier and have a dipping sonar. I'm at HSL-49 (scorpions) we fly the SH-60B which has radar, forward looking infrared, hellfire missiles, ESM, and a Sonobouy launcher. We actually get to leave the ship and fly around :P. Where are you stationed out of now?

Ahh another AMS rating guy. I did 9 years as a AMS (NDI) in the Navy with 4 years on the Nimitz when it was out of Bremerton. I found the same problem with not a swinging dick onboard who road sport bikes! Other than the Officers (good luck getting those stuck up snobs to ride with you), the Marines are your best bet for finding fellow sport bike riders.
Except the Marines onboard a carrier are a arrogant bunch. I eventually fell in with them and even taught a few of them how to ride. Be warned though, first chance they get when they are drinking they will get into a fight with you! Stupid jarheads...

I got to ride my bike on r&r and it was a night and day diffrence. best money I have ever spent on it. and you can always sell the slip on's and get a little cash back for them. they only problem now is the waiting game. after getting to ride it on r&r I can't wait to get home and ride again!

does brocks make a dual pipe set up? and would a steering damper be a good investment?

A steering damper is a good investment IMO because it keeps you from getting the front wheel cocked out of alignment when the front tire is just barely skimming the ground.
If you're serious about performance then there's no reason to go with a dual pipe. 4-1 makes more power and I'm not sure that anyone even makes a full exhaust that's a 4-2. If you are just wanting looks and sound then a slipon is for you and brock makes alien head slipons. I personally want the most I can get out of a pipe which is why I'm torn right now on which exhaust to go with. I like the look of the shorty gen3, but I just don't know if I will be able to justify paying the same amount of money for slightly less power, even if it is just by a couple of HP.
What are you looking for out of your bike? Are you going to race it at all?
Oh yeah, where are you home ported out of now?

I would like to get into drag racing but don't currently. We were deployed from ME, and are being moved to FL. I do take looks into consideration, but that's not what I base my decisions on. What would the pwr difference be between full exhaust and a slip on?

The difference is night and day. slipons = pretty much the same times at the dragstrip as the stock exhaust. Full exhaust = a couple of tenths of a second faster. So I'm guessing that you'll be in Jacksonville? I should be stopping in there sometime in june or july for 2 weeks during my deployment.

I dont buy that Bawls. When I went from stock to Two Brothers slip-ons it meant the difference between having my bike only occasionally wheelie in second gear to ALWAYS wheelieing in second gear. A all around improvement!
IMO (and based on the dyno info Brocks supplied me) slipons will net you 10-15hp, where as a SMEG full exhaust will add another 5-8hp.
Of course, the best part about a full exhaust is the HUGE weight savings you get, in the neighborhood of 30 pounds savings! You talk about a difference you can feel! Would be worth the money of a full system JUST for that. It's just amazing how much better the 14 feels when you drop the weight off it, turns it into about the equivelant of a slightly stretched zx10. Or as I found out, it makes it "Grin Inducingly Fun" on the street.

Man... I want some of what you're smoking. By claiming that slipons will net you 10-15 hp, you're pretty much saying that you don't think before you type. I would say that you probably got what he was saying mixed up because it should have read something like this.
The smeg will get you 10-15 hp which is about 5-8 hp over what you can get out of a set of slipons with a custom map.
The slipons that I've seen dynoed in person have made about 4hp on the dyno over stock without mapping, and 5-6 with mapping. That's not too shabby for slipons, but no where near what you get for slightly more with a full exhaust.
The weight savings is really where it's at. The stock exhaust weighs like 30 lbs, where as a brocks 4-1 weighs 9 lbs.
