What is it with some Corvette Owners?

So i pull up to our office building and pull right in next to a dude with brand spankin new Blue Corvette. Obviously he just got it as he has temporary tags and all his boys are out ohhhing and ahhhing over his new purchase. He was in an end space and there is a little marked off triangle just big enough for the 14 so I pull right in. He is obviously regaling his compadres with tails of his most likely fictional high speed hijinx when one of his buddies decides to turn his attention to me. He says " I bet you cant outrun that!" His Buddy replies I would leave that little bike like he was standing still. At first I was gonna leave it alone, but this was just too easy and he kinda pissed me off a little with his smug attitude. So i calmly proclaimed him mayor of Corvette Fantasy land and informed him that in the real world unless that thing has a twin turbo or is supercharged the only thing he would see is tail lights dancing off in the distance and the sound of his ego as it deflated. So he proceeded to huff and Puff threaten to blow the 14 down. So i tried another tactic as I began to explain about power and weight ratios and tried to debunk some of the corvette fantasy he obviously believes is true. Alas, it fell on def ears and I no longer had the energy to debate him. The moral of the story seems to be some folks are gonna believe what they want to believe no matter how well you explain the truth to them.

Plz tell me you smoked his ass..!! I have never met the guy but can tell i dont like him already. I love Vetts but some of the people that own them, think they are on top and cant be beat, I raced a guy around here in a C5 Z06 when they first came out in my 03 Mustang, that was completly not stock, but he thought cause he paid 75k for his Z06 that a 25k mustang couldnt beat him, well needless to say i won 1k off him. I did quite loose my license over it though. Damn.

Well, unless you have a speedohealer, I think the Vette might take the top speed honors...

I'm just sayin'....

If they have about 10 miles of straight road, and the 14 would hit 186 way earlier than the Vette could even get close.

The thing was he kept saying over and over 0 to 150mph nothing can hang! No matter what you told this guy he was determined. I run a Brock Smeg and Speedohealer and I offered to send him links to the brocks diaries that documented the bikes performance. But somehow the corvette is the fastest thing since formula one cars in his mind. lol

I don't know about that ... my 67 camaro is normally aspirated and runs 195 in the mile at maxton. It is faster than some busa's and 14's at Maxton. If I had the aero package of a new vette I think it would be much faster. Be careful of who you run :-)

190 on the 800 hp motor, right? Or did you pull 195 without the spray?

I might give him the benifit of the doubt if it was a top end debate but he kept harping on 0 - 150 mph. With a standard Vette putting down 430 hp and avg 1/4 times in the 11.6 range I dont see him taking many busas and 14's unless he has a surprise under the hood. Now with nitrous or turbo charging we have a different ball game.

yeah , 430 HP would be an issue ,,, I need 800 HP to hit those speeds,, and that gets me a 9.40 at 143mph in the 1/4 mile also , but I can't do both with the same set of gears :-(

191.4 on motor , 195.7 with some nitrous. I need to tune on the nitrous some , but I have been very careful since my last meltdown ....

Let's face it, this world has it's share of idiots. I have found I am a lot happier not letting them bother me in the first place. That is where the real power is. Not that I have it perfected it but I get closer all the time.

Well as a Corvette owner I could actually say that 14 would kill that Vette the would eventually catch it but miles down the road.

A high speed roll on my 14 still pulls harder then the Vette so that guy is living a dream, just let him have his moment someone will bust his bubble soon. I wish it was me (lol).

14s 1/4 mile 145-150mph at just under 10 seconds.
430-436hp Vettes do 115-118mph at around 12.5 seconds. 0-150 in about 17.5 seconds.

Basically, the 14 will hit 150 mph more than 7 seconds faster than that vette.

A slaughter.

That's all that needs to be said.
