Spark plug that gives more HP
I'm guessing that no one uses these plugs as i haven't read about them on this site. Probably because they don't make them to fit a ZX14.
BUT! has anyone tried a set (as in damn close fit), to make them fit? Woudln't it be worth it to re-tap the spark plug threads and even if they didn't perform as per advert, just have a sleeve made up and go back to the originals - if possible?
They do say "For most stock cars, trucks and SUV's".
http://www.pulstar.com
From the ad i read in the October 08 Scientifc American:
A Nissan Z350 got an increase of 11HP.
What i found interesting, is the clever wording or is correct, regarding the actual generated spark was the word "Sooner...".
So does that mean having to alter the ignition timing?
The "...Thoughly" part i can accept as it's a bigger spark.
And "Increases cylinder pressure by as much as 10%" - Does that mean the 'Compression Raito' is altered?
Cheers and Merry xmas to you all.
Alan.
UPDATE::::
The December SA, has an updated (save the world), ad with a 'inside' look of the plug.
Says that this 'pulse' technologhy is 'based' on research from the Sandia National Laboritories (part of Lockheed).
Shows graph of a 2007 Toyota Prius 44.8mpg before and 49.2mpg after.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I knew all that would be forthcoming...
But guys, the question was "Has anyone tried them"? I'll take it as a no then.
I suppose i thought that if the world famous Scientifc American magazine would carry the ad, at least it might give it some respectabiity...
I mean come on! Bigger spark has gotta mean more energy, eh?
ASSUMING!!! that If a normal spark ignites 95% of the fuel vapour, against a plug that ignites 99% has gotta be better, yes?

If and that is a BIG IF the gain would be so small you would never feel it .. That is the reason split fire plugs are not around anymore ..The zx14 comes with one of the best plugs made so if you got a gain from that not so nice looking plug it would be slim ..

i would hesitate to use a capacitive device near such heat and pressure. reliability would concern me. also resistance * capacitance = time constant. for this thing to increase the voltage and or duration of a spark would require some sort of time delay. nothing is for free and its not magic. just my

Has anyone seen these E-3 Spark Plugs? I don't think they make them for bikes yet, but they make them for most cars/trucks.
They were talking about them on "Gearz" a couple weeks ago and it made me wonder if they were any better than regular style plugs.
They do have an interesting and logical design.

Ok. Had a look at the E3 site - and frankly, nice graphics/pictures, lots of uber text, but no data!
The Pulstar site IS claiming data though.
Iriduim plugs seem to get a fairly good rap also from what i have read.
Bigdtd: They (Pulstar), do a range of plugs for modded / hotter engines as well. Check the site again by going to the 'Buy It Now' section and clicking on the relevant link to - model not here etc... goes under a differnt name - but same brand/type of technology.
Shane - are you going to give it a go?
To really test it. Someone needs access to the same dyno on the same day (same temp, air pressure, everything). Put in new standard plugs, 100miles, run dyno - then swap over with these Pulstar plugs, 100miles, run dyno.
Get Fish to contact Pulstar and offer to test, etc and if proven will post accordingly onthe ZX-14web site, etc. If Pulstar say no, then we know the answer!
BTW, i get $100USD per hit to their web site from this url and i get $10,000USD everytime someone completes a purchase. So buy now, i have a wife, children and a dog to look after!
