? Why cut your forks?? You can easily drop the front by raising the forks within the triple clamps. If you drop much over 1" you are are into the front fender and have lost most suspension travel! Once you are into no/low suspension travel any bump at speed is at the very least going to get scary if it doesn't simply spit you off!!

+1 you can get the front of the bike plenty low by sliding the fork tubes up between 1-1.25" and putting a strap on it. My front fender has marks to prove it

Well there are a couple benefits both ways. It's nice to just be able to slide the forks and strap it down...it saves money on having them cut and it can go back to stock. Cut forks are great when you need some suspension travel...not all tracks are glass smooth. (Mine used to have oil pan crushing pot holes in it until they resurfed'd it this year.) You also have a little more control over wheels spin with cut forks. The bike will transfer more weight back helping the rear plant a little harder. Where a strap will have the front tire on the ground or off....which means you have traction or you dont.

I didnt think of it that way, but once you get your bike long enough to where traction becomes a problem then cut forks could be a good thing to aid weight transfer. Something a stock wheelbase bike doesnt need to worry about.

jdrill04,
I ordered the Schnitz front lowering blocks for my 14 which dropped my front end 1.25" and I have the dogbones on the rear at the middle hole ( 1.25"). I am stock wheelbase and do the occassional dragstrip day. I had the same setup on my 2000 ZX12. I like the lowered bike..it really helps with the wheelies plus from my personal experience it gives the bike a more planted feeling.
The suspension on the ZX14 is ultra soft ( to me ) anyway so with it lowered and stiffened it feels more solid to me. Can't carve the canyons lowered like you do at stock height but if you want to go that route I would get a ZX10 anyway!!
Thanks

I know some folks who will cut the forks but Coby or Chip Hunter is the only two I would use.
You can't go wrong with either of them.

Isn't it easier to fit shorter springs? No problem with front fender hitting the fairing and easy to return to stock if you sell the bike.
