Voltmeter / Multimeter

What brand/type of meter are you guys using? Is any one superior for bike use? The service manual calls for a special needle adapter for many of the smaller wiring harnesses...any suggestions?

hard to go wrong with fluke

on some of the newer bikes where they are now multiplexing.........

in other words stacking more than 1 function on just 2 wires

a more sensitive type meter is required..........................if you dont have that situ

dont worry, regular dc volts & amps are handle easily by a fluke +

you can use it around the house (ac)

20-25 $$

As usual Steve ain't lying.

yep, Fluke, nodoubtaboutit

I bit the bullet and bought one 8 years ago, and thank myself every time i use it.

I have one that can do rpm, has helped me a buncha times.

There are several different models, NONE of which can be had for $20

Fluke also has test leads with a buncha tiny needles which can press down and penetrate wires without stripping them. Ain't cheap... But worth it, yep.

i have used and own both fluke and snap on meters, both are great. Just go with a name brand like that. Also a heads up for anyone, instead of buying back probe devices from radio shack ect....go to your local walmart or sewing store, go to the arts and craft dept. and buy a box to T-pins for sewing. They work great! Also if you are afraid of 2 of them touching eachother get an old bottle cap, poke a hole in the center of it, then push the t-pin threw it. Works great, and then they wont arch against eachother! Hope this helps

Fluke does rule, but at two to three times the cost. FYI There office/plant is in Everett, a couple blocks from where I used to work for 10 years and I never knew it till last summer. WELL hidden in the trees!

The benefit of there equipment is that you quite literally are getting both Military and Medical Quality equipment every time you purchase one. The only difference between the Military/Medical and general sale items is the different cases! They also have 2 times+ the battery life! And are waterproof--- even when they only claim "moisture resistant". 2 weeks under water when my house flooded and it worked flawlessly. Probably still working flawlessly for the thief that stole it! $25 my ass, mine was $125 on sale.
