rubber mat around motor??
can anyone tell me the purpose of that rubber mat around the motor? sound dampening maybe? i mean to me it looks like a heat blanket! or maybe to keep heat in from melting plastic? can i take it off? anyone done this noticed it running cooler? i dont have a manual so i havent a clue what it for......

If you mean the rubber inserts between the fairing lowers and the engine, they're to stop the hot air from cooking your legs. Stuff stuck on the inside of the panels is usually sound deadening unless it's silver coated which is to reflect heat.

I removed mine. Should run cooler, and noisier...but I've not really noticed it:

noise isnt really an issue with anything except stock pipes

yes Shane thats what i was referring to! it seemed to be a dampening effort rather than a heat reflector. as stated a heat reflector shouldve been aluminum backed right? im not worried about a little more noise that muzzy M10 will take care of that. Ill remove it and note any temp changes for anyone interested. Thanks Shane
