it has taken me dropping my bike to pull my head out of my ass and get a set of frame sliders... was looking on ebay and saw these, and was just wanting opinions about which style was better, i know its a person pref... but with the 3 point design didnt know if it might be a little better...

That should fix it. The 14forum has no moderators, because they're never online.

I've got Puig's and I'm very happy with them. I haven't "tested" them yet and I hope I never do.

make sure if you get the ones off ebay you get the correct puck on the correct size on is longer than the other they stick out enough to protect the plastic and thats it...they dont stick out extremely far like some i see..but i dont care for the looks of those. make sure if you get a set you get the ones with the double hole mounting bracket!! i see the ones ripping the frames apart just screw in and no brackets.

no frame sliders for me except my track bikes, and I fear they may break the frame tab they're bolted to. but mainly they're good for a low side crash at high speed and only wear the plastic puck to the bolt.

search the forum you'll find frame damage as a result of sliders.

some slider manufacturers advertise they're bolt is rated at a gazillion pounds strength and such. translation: "we PROMISE your frame will break beforehand, long before the frame slider bolt experiences any damage"

very true steve.. but if you crash goin that fast, im sure one of the last things that are going to be a concern is the tab that they bolt to, right?

Unless you don't think the cylinder head is a big deal?

+1

sliders can be bad bad news.

note they all claim how strong their bolts are (and screw into a weak material tab)

My suggestion is to go with the race railz instead. I have tested them on a crash doing 100mph going out into the dirt. Broke some plastics in the front and left side, but that happened because the bike flipped over on the windshield. Saved the frame and retained the structual integrity of the bike. I ended up with a double compound tib/fib break left leg that put me in the hospital for five days and now I am just able to walk around without a cane. Have been riding the H-D for over a month now and will start riding the 14 this week. Friend with a 10 had his bike totalled because of case damage and he had high dollar frame sliders. 35 mph crash in a 270 degree exit ramp due to coolant on the road. He ended up picking up a 14 and is getting the rails after witnessing me go off the road.

...my previous statement revoked! lol... i assumed at that slow of a speed it wouldnt hurt it, but guess i was wrong. i was thinking more about the "stupid drops" like in the parking lot... under that carport (like i already done)... so actually putting a grade 2 bolt in them would be a very good idea. right?

Hey you get what you pay for!! show me a pic where a set of frame sliders with the 2 bolt mount ripped the frame and i will be a believer! if you rip these out your bike is trashed anyhow!!!

frame sliders or not? i had a lowside @ 35-45 mph and no other damage but the plastics. They take it well compared to frame damage. hhmmm I have a new set of sliders to put on with the new stuff. now I wonder. The 2 point looks good though.

The advantage to the 2 pointers is they are designed that way to avoid having to cut the fairings to install the sliders
