Proper way to remove the charcoal canister?

Id like to remove the charcoal cansiter so I can put the pc3 and speedohealer under the seat. But it has a few hoses running to another small canister just above your right foot peg, and then a couple of hoses going up to the tb's. I have heard of people doing it wrong and having their gas tank impolode.

And is there any benefit to doing this besides weight and more room? And not sure if it matters but it is a ca bike.

I saw this in another thread:

If it's emissions:

Take the seat off.
Remove the black little box.
Two hoses ......
Black w/ Blue strip ........ leave open to vent under seat.
Black w/ Green strip ...... remove completely - this hose runs up to
the #3 intake port. Remove hose and install a vacuum cap.

Is this the best way to do it?

thanks

I believe you have a catch tank for overflow out of the gas tank (by the foot peg) and a line that goes to the TB so they suck away(and burn) evaporated gas fumes. pull that line off an put a cap on the TB where it was. I think the other one is for the smog pump, so you could put block offs on and get rid of all kinds of junk at the same time. just make sure the tank can still drain to the little catch tank and I think you are ok, but the 14 is a bit diff than the 12. I took out a a bunch of stuff like that on my 01. dads 00 had a lot less from the factory, I think I may have had a ca bike....not sure on its history, but I know a guy in the us navy used to have it, then a salvage yard, then some other guy that fixed it, then me

imo. take the 2 lines off the TB's cap the brass spigots, take the line off of the bottom of the catch tank, cap it. leave the 2 lines from the tank to the catch tank, rip everything else out

For Racing Purposes only:

Plug off #3 and #4 throttle body intake tubes. Run the (3) tank lines open atmosphere. This will see the octane drop you vapor loss to the atmo. The sealed tank is better you have all that vapor sorta charcoal in the slow process is the clogging or closed loop of the tank's vapor release system.

Gonna detune the gas? Knock-Knock is the first to go. Det awaits.

You clog off any of the tank tubes, it will cause the rain to fill up in the gas cap filler area. That is one hole you flipping the tank cap to look. The next hose line is the vacuum pump of part #3 is a one way valve the engine sucks each 360°. The other line pushes the vapor into what very little enters the tank vapor is not a whole lot is lit from either #4 plug is fouled or #3 cylinder is lean from the vapor pump call it. Imagine if this is a street bike not ridden daily to replenish the diminishing returns of the hose play.

Thru vaporization, you lose the octane rating. Let the tank sit in the sun? The vapor in between the liquid and top of the tank is in a vapor state. This leaves or the tank would expand if there was no vent system. Same as the tank would implode if the opposite vacuum/pressure was not neutralized some way.

Therefore, you can really smell the gas vapor with open tank lines is just move the "race bike" around with a full tank in the garage to get the car out sorta get it on the trailer.

That #3 pump is it is constantly keeping a neutral pressure going and the closed loop of the emissions canister is the smell thru the filtering is you cannot create or destroy matter so it don't really matter if you smoke with a filter or without. Sorta defeats it's own purpose sorta in the translation is you will lose octane is either way is the translation, KawaBonga is did that help ya?

Say now you just remove the canister for the Pc? Then leave all the rest alone and all you have to do is reinstall the canister/remove Pc once you sell the bike say.

Other way is weight is a factor for your racing purposes is to plug up the two vent hoses bye snipping the hoses say and use two golf tee's for the throttle body injector vent lines. Either that, or head over to NAPA say and buy two rubber fitting that close the tubes off.

Look down at the 3 tank color dots:
Green Dot = Is your weather vent say if the rain/wash the bike down and the cavity in the gas cap does not fill up.
Blue Dot = Canister side to #3 plug injector
Red Dot = Fuel Vapor from canister to #4 injector
Either way, you want to shut the air pulses to the caniter is the pump is going to pull or implode that one way switch is the plug you tried to vent off. Therefore, keep all in place is take a steel ball, insert said size into the tube on the open side of the throttle body tube. Reinstall the tube and you now closed off the little vent pump from sucking on the collapsed hose/fitting/etc.
Make sense now as how many combos you can shut the canister down is way too easy you are over thinking things, KawaB!
