Just got home from the dealership, and now a part of the crew

Ive been lurking around this site for a couple months now, trying to learn as much as I could about the 14. And finally got one today. I headed to the dealership with my mind set on the green one, but as soon as I saw the monster edition in person I couldnt pass on it. Ive seen a few pics of them and didnt think much of it. But in person its a really good looking bike. I bought it today and they are delivering it tomorrow around 1pm. I cant wait. This is the first time I have ever bought anything without riding or driving it home, what a bummer

But I will be waiting in the garage ready for it, these are waiting too...

I have a few questions for the bigger riders. I weigh in at 225 in shorts. So my question is that I have a set of the brock's 3 hole lowering links, and want to run them in the middle hole on the street and on the lowest setting when I go to the track. Will I run into a big problem with the undertail dragging on the tire when I launch (stock length)? And what kind of preload are you guys running on the front and rear springs? And how far can I raise the forks up before I crack or scratch the front fender. I will run unstrapped on the street and strapped at the track. And the last question is what chain are you guys running.

thanks

Hey Racers
I'm 280 in shorts and Street wise the middle hole is fine,I've scrape only when I'm 2up and hit certain bumps.I had the suspension done by a shop and they set the rear to be a lil more stiffer for both of us.The front is lowered 3/4" and is maxed with me alone and was told I have to upgrade the internals, but have never hit the fender.Track wise I don't know.Congrats on your purchase and accessory.

racers, I'm 200 unsuited heres my set up: rearlinks middle hole street, bottom at the track.
Front lowered 1.25 inches through trees, preload in front set to 4mm height(see manual),
Rear shock has not been adjusted for preload only valving adjustments made from
track to street. I run a 190 Shinko U-Soft at 24-20 psi at the track and during a good
launch it will just slightly rub the undertail. I use a DID 530 NZ super non o-ring chain
all the time with stock gearing. At this time I am running the Maxton map and my best
pass was 9.45 @ 150 mph using MR-11 and no air filter. Any more questions send me a
pm and I will be glad to help.

Im from northern ca, and yes it is the short meg. I have a lot of work to do tonight. I want to get everything on plus pull the flies and put a few miles on it. The suspense is killing me. Its been a couple of years now since I have been on a streetbike. Hopefully Ill get it to the track this week.

Might think twice about pulling the flies. Check out smokins post on his new 14 when he
took it to the track.

Suggest that you don't pull the flies on an 08 until you have become climitized on it. The 14 is a LOT of bike and if you haven't ridden street for a couple of years you will need some warm up time.
Plus if you get some strip times with the flies in and then out you will have a good comparison. Just a suggestion to think about.

Well I just got done with the first round of mods. I got the pipe, pc3, flys out (when I ordered the pipe and pc I had them do it will the flies out so thats why I pulled them) slid the fork tubes up 1.25", installed the strap kit, and got the lowering links on. Ive only put 10 miles on it so far, and lets just say it gets your attention quick Lots of fun! And I also realized that it has been way to long. Ill let you guys know how the track outing goes. Ill be running 89 pump gas with the street map for the first few outings.

Well let me know what you think

Ill get some better pics tomorrow in the light

thats is incredibly nice, baffles me it looks so good. and without being overdone like some in the past.

rACeRs, did Kawi put the green lipstick on the wheels under clearcoat, or did they apply green rim-tape?
