KTM RC8 . . . . .
Pretty quiet in the KTM forum.
Just wondering if anybody's found out about availability and pricing.

When I started shopping for a new bike I started writing to any dealer that dealt with KTM and not one wrote back. So I bought another 10r. If thats the interest in selling a KTM then I am not going to keep after them and I would prefer going to a dealer thats wants my business. Dont need the best deals, I like service. Sucks to be them.

I read in 2wheel mag that they are priced at about 19,000. Too pricing for me I stick with the 14.

I think (from memory), that KTM were first approached by the British guys, Ewan McGregor and Charle Boorman who were planning and did the Long Way Round series.
They enentually did the Long Way Down - on BMW's.
KTM said thanks, but no thanks. BMW came up to the plate and it showed that BMW (besides some frame welding that needed doing up in the rear end), did have great bikes for that sort of endurance trip.
Maybe KTM know something we don't?

The biggest issue with KTM in Florida......no dealers to speak of. Which means a pain to have serviced/warranty/etc.

True, but they told them that KTM didn't want to be involved in something that was highly likely to fail, they also did it at the last minute, only a few weeks before the kick off of the trip. Can't help wondering how much business was lost as a result of this and how much BMW gained on the flip side

There are many KTM dealer's in Florida that sell the bikes new and have authorized factory warranty shops.
Here is the local one for Tampa if you would like a price for a bike or quote on work:
Cahills of North Tampa Inc.
8920 N Armenia Avenue Tampa, FL 33604

The dealer that I buy my Kawi's from sells KTM. They had one on the floor and it looked really goofy in person. the tank is plastic and some parts of the bike are glossy, some are dull. (paint)
They sold theirs for 22k. Some links on our local site ... Tucson Sport Rider ...
