Nice Pic NOD!!!
Just wondering; Has anyone tried raising the bike about an inch to give it more clearance?
How bad would it mess with the handling and stability?
I understand that the bike is what it is, but still curious.
So fire off with any opinions, facts, or whatever.
OH yeah, sorry for jacking this thread.

I'm sure you could raise the rear to quicken the steering, but I wouldn't do it without adding a steering damper....which would then slow it down.

I think he taped up the blinkers. All glass and plastic has to be taped up.

Yep, good 'ol painters tape. As stated, you are required to tape up all glass and plastic so it doesnt shatter everywhere in the event of a get-off.
I also covered the lower fairings with a layer of painters tape to protect the metal flake paint and then layered an entire roll of duct tape over the painters tape as a buffer. If i hit fairing (as i just about did several times looking at pic #4), i wanted a buffer if even for a split second to sve the paint.
Thanks guys

I thought about that first! But it looks like all the side fairings attach to them, and i couldnt see a way to support them without the lower fairings. Last thing i want is them flopping around at 165mph indicated. I know it would be fine on a dragstrip, but was unsure about a road course.
Thanks Gunner!

I think it is. We have a pretty twisty track up here and i think it did rather well. This is with stock suspension (and i weigh 240 before leathers) and with the crappy stock BT014s. Next season i hope to re-do my suspension and get some sticky rubber. then she'll be even better
This entire trackday all i focused on was body position and braking. I have no fear of the acceleration or speed, but approaching a turn at 165 and overcoming that fear to late brake takes time. I will say 1 thing about my 14 though, one of the best, if not THE best thing about my bike is the brakes. ALL DAY at the track, i was using 1 finger to brake and the bike scrubbed speed like nothing ive felt before. No fade whatsoever, just 165 to 90 in a couple seconds, with only 1 finger. Incredible.

Nice pics, wish I coulda joined you. Gotta save up all my pennies for the next 2 months though because I got a feeling SPEAA is going on strike with Boeing in December...
We will have to hit the track next spring together. Gotta check, but I believe this year is done and next year starts in May?
You can fix the fairing scraping problem really easy: racetec springs. Mainly the rear spring. The stockers compress so bad under cornering load that they allow the fairing to hit. With my racetec's, I've scraped pegs on both sides numerous times but haven't hit the fairing yet. Even at full lean at 150+mph! Talk about compression loading...

Do yourself a favor: buy all your toys and mods BEFORE you buy a house! As a multiple home owner, I gotta tell you it's damn expensive. And most rudely surprising was the fact that ALL your bills go up($) ontop of now having a yard to maintain ($$) etc... And you will have sewer, garbage, etc. that you dont normally have if you're renting a apartment or duplex.
Also, try and buy a new house, either brand new or less than 10 years or so old. They are insulated WAY better and will save you serious money on your electric bill. My last rental was a 1200 sq ft. 2 story townhouse that shared 2 walls, my kilowatt hour useage actually dropped when I bought my first house- a 1400 sq. ft. 2 story. Townhouse was built in the 80's and used about 25% more electricity to heat/run.
But the point is: you will NOT have the funds to play with your toys until you increase your income or drop some bills after you buy a house.

Nice Pictures....
Who took your pictures?
Some one at the track that doesn't ride?
PIR is fairly flat - so what's will all the tilted horizons in the pictures?
(Sorry - personal pet peeve, photographers who don't ride, messing with my track photos thinking that they are "fixing" them - when I feel that I don't need the help)
They are standing your bike up - when your pictures would look way more hard core - if they had just left them as they were....
IMO
Luckily I am on a lap top - so I can just pick up my computer - tilt it so the horizon is level and then see what is REALLY going on.....you have a nice lean going on, you're rocking that track!

You outta see it from the pilots point of view. Every once in awhile you catch yourself looking down at the ground and thinking "boy that would suck if my tires gave out right now.." lol
Looks like I might have some competition around here for the fastest 14 rider. Good thing we're friends. lol

Its not PIR (Portland Int'l Raceway). That track IS flat. Pacific Raceways (formerly Seattle Int'l Raceway, or SIR) is VERY hilly. He took 103 pics of me that day :o those were just the couple i quickly picked.
His name is Brandon Bones, and he is THE photog. Hes the official photog for Motoczyz (sp?) and has ben published in most moto mags. Super nice guy too.
