Brocks Maps

This sounds like a dumb question, but here's the deal. I've got an '08 that is at the dealer getting work done. (I'll post all about the nightmare once it's over). So I figured now's a good time to have him install a new Brocks Full System SMEG. So I ordered them and a PCIII, (it hasn't got here yet). BTW, I ordered the Brocks SMEG on Friday and got them on Monday!! Wow!!!

So I call the dealer and say, hey, the pipes are in. I'll drop them by this week when the PC comes in. Would you like me to download the Brocks maps and put them on a flash drive? He says, "No, we'll do all the fine tuning here. All bikes are different". That sounds to me like he wants to create his own maps and bill me for it.

So the question is, do the Brocks maps need to be tweaked? I went with Brocks due to the overwhelming support for them on this forum, (and cuz they look cool too). I just want to load it and be done. It was my impression that you just load the maps and zoom. I know he'll be putting it on the dyno, and that's cool, but what's to change?

Second question, having never touched a PCIII, can I hook it to my computer at home and load the maps, then bring to the dealer with the maps loaded?

I tried calling Brocks today but got put on hold, and then told they would call me back. I had to decline the call back as I was heading out the door.

I'm not out to win any races, (haven't met anybody with a comparible bike), but I hope to get a few roll-on contests with Sticks in before the real cold weather sets starts. How 'bout it Sticks? We could see how the Muzzy does against the Brocks.

Once you've registered your product thru Brock's site, they will e-mail you the ones you need. I don't believe your dealership will have access to the maps. If the PC was purchased directly from Brock, the map should be loaded already.

Tell you dealership to leave it alone. Deal with the stock map until you get it home and then load it up fro yourself. A don't believe a melow ride home will hurt the motor....folks have gotten away with way more miles without damaging their engines.

My Brock map had to be tweeked, but only because my elevation is 4000+ft. It was a little fat on fuel in the low RPMs, but the tuner did not touch the mid/top of the Brock Map. I'm currently running Brocks race map(completely unchanged) on my '06 which I like better than the original brock map that I had leaned out.

If you're not satisfied, you can always return to the dealership....but I doubt you will. If you do decide to return to the dealership, call Brock first. He will do everything possible to make you a happy/satisfied/return customer.

I just wanted to put in my 2ยข in before I had to head-out to work. I spoke to a person at Brock's just a couple weeks ago to ask a couple questions. I decided to have the guys over at Spyder Racing put in my exhaust system when I get it, and the guy at Brock's told me that not only upon purchase can they have the maps pre-installed for you with the correct setting (SMEG/Flies-out/etc), but they can also provide you wil access to the website so the mechanic you are using can get access to those maps as well to "fine tune" your bike. Say you decide not to take out the flies on an 08', or something, the access will allow the mechanic to fine-tune your bike with the proper maps on the fly. I swear! These guys are awesome! Top shelf customer service all the way!

I could tell you my horror stories about tuning centers.when I think of it my blood boils!Lean is mean on the dyno, but in the real world it sucks! My experience with tuning centers is,they make people happy with high H/P numbers.I've ran so many people that say they made these high hp numbers and i'll say i only made this(which is usually much lower)and after the race the first question out of their mouths is (how much hp did you say you made)? So wherever you go and have it tuned, make sure you let them know that you're not impressed by numbers;you just want you're bike to perform like it should!

My bad, didnt mean to sound like I was bashing all tuning centers;just my experiences.i've heard lots of good things about you around the net.But the tuner will give the center a bad name.

Thanks for your response Everybody! I just got the PC in this morning but no time to play with it yet. I'll get to it tonight. I emailed Brocks yesterday and signed up. I should get my maps today. I'll load them up and bring it all in to the dealer tomorrow.

I hope I don't seem like I'm knocking them. They have really been great. I didn't understand why he said he'd tune it after I told him the Brocks maps are supposed to be really good. They have a dyno there so he's probably planning on fine tuning it. At least I'll be able get an idea of what it's producing. Too bad we didn't get a reading on it before it took a total crap.
I figure I'm not going to be a jerk about it. I should be able to backup whatever mapping he does and make changes later if I don't like it.

I'm sure it'll all make more sense to me tonight, (stuff like A/F numbers and all), when I plug the PCIII into my laptop. Don't know what to expect, especially when it won't be connected to the bike. BTW, I've been told the parts "should be in" by Friday. I hope that means I get it back next week. I've owned this bike since April and have missed nearly 3 months of riding, not to mention that we had snow as late as June. (Bike started knocking the first week of August and waited 3 weeks until someone actually looked at it). When it wasn't in the shop it was either running poorly or waiting to go in. If it weren't for my trusty old 900 I'd be losing it...

My son downloaded Brocks map for me after I bought my smeg after help from Lyle, my bike doesn't dyno crazy numbers but it is fast. It also beats bikes that supposedly dyno big numbers. My a/f is 12.9 so I don't buy the high horsepower numbers as long as it rips on the street.

You"re times in the near future will be very exciting! If the dealer is going to tune anyway, the PCIII has an option to save the current map loaded(thus meaning you can add this one to your selectable map options). When you receive the maps from Brock, you can ocillate between your choices and see which one is the best for your bike and the ride style selected. Congrats and plz report your findings if applicable.

WHen you load the PCIII software, up will pop a screen with options on the left like Load Map, Get Map, Save Map, etc... Leave everything at default! Hook up your PCIII (its a plug that sits on top of the gear case behind the cylinder head, nearly inline with the front sprocket. Access is thru the L/H side, fairing removal recommended to route it- but I think you could do it without. Unplug the OEM plug, insert the PCIII as a inline jumper and you're done with that part.

Make sure you add an extension onto your PCIII ground (2 feet should be plenty) and run it directly to the battery. It's been a long running issue on the 14 forums where the ground goes bad because its grounded to the frame, usually right above where the plug is, but the fasteners holding that bracket to the frame are sealed with sealant and the metal is painted. No good connection, and what there is will corrode fast.

After its hooked up, you can place it. Best place is ziptied to the L/H intake tube, forward half of tube. Once in place, plug in a 9 volt battery to the cord and hook up the USB wire. Start bike and while it's warming up to FULL WARM (fan comes on) you plug it into your computer. It should auto download the preinstalled map. If not, press "Get Map".

Read the bottom of the screen in the details it will tell you what map the current one is. MAKE SURE if its not a untouched Brock map that the info is reflected in the details section!!

If you want to load a diff map, unzip and save your new map to the Power Commander main directory. What you will be seeing on the screen is how much extra fuel is being added at different throttle positions and RPMS, usually "+" but sometimes "-". You can use "Select All" and right click, "Save As" then open a new named map and "Paste" the maps contents so you can tweak it any way you want, just dont' touch the base map!

Ok, Here is my deal. I have an 06. I have a full system from Orient Express, which im told was made by Ti force. I have a map but its not the greatest. How do i go about getting a brocks map? I'd really like to try it. My buddy with his 08 Busa will pull 'slightly' when we nail it in 1st and go threw the gears. Roll ons in 4th 5th or 6th he Kills me. Even a 99 r1 out did me in 6th gear roll on. And im 1 down in the front.. But im 230lbs suited. Althow it dynoed at 167hp here in MN on a 85 * muggy day, and i ran my best time of 9.76@142 my 1st time at track with this bike. Is there a way to get a brocks map?? Thanks.

Flys out, Bmc filter, Full system, 1 down in front, used to have TRE but took it out, accually got more power down low with it out.

just use the brock maps you will love it. don't let your dealer put it on the dyno unless it is free or you want to flat spot a good tire. brock's maps are tweaked at the strip and unless you live on pikes peak they will be spot on for you as is.

as for how to get the maps become a customer.
