(Pics) Faster, Sounds AWESOME, Cost me 14 Bucks!

I just mounted a 3A Racing (car) muffler on my bike purchased through e-Bay for $14.00 and WOW! The sound is nothing short of INCREDIBLE! Three other guys have said it is by FAR the best sound they've EVER heard out of a race bike. I'm experiencing amazing torque and seat of the pants horsepower (Feels faster and definitely more powerful than the stock cans (even when gutted)). My bike is faster and lighter.
IMHO it looks great and saves a bunch of weight and I can't believe it turned out as well as it did! lol
Here's what I did:
1: Remove the old pipes.
2: Plug the left side opening at the collector.
3: Cut the bracket off the stock left can and rivit to the 3A Pipe.
4: Cut the factory midpipe right where it enters the factory muffler
5: Notch the front of the 3A muffler pipe so the installed clamp will "crush-fit" it to the factory stock midpipe.
6: Mount the new pipe and enjoy!
I'll post a sound clip soon.

Nice job !!! Cant wait to hear the sound clip. How about a few details on how you blocked the left side of the collector ? Also is there one specific 3A muffler that fits the exhaust pipe or are they all the same. Thanks for the info!!!

Yep, 4.25" Outlet lol. Actually, for the entire length it's only 2" INTERNALLY.
After the "pinched" area near the rear the bell opening is 4.25" but the pipe is, in effect, your standard 2" "straight-thru" pipe with sound absorbing walls.

The soundclip is here: http://www.goldiesplating.com/Kawasaki/ZX143APipe.mp3 You should be able to right click and press "save as".
The left side was blocked off by finding an aluminum "endcap" for pipe capping that I had lying around that was the same size as the factory hole, then cutting 1/4" slits with a dremmel cutoff wheel into the edge of the factory opening so it would spread when the endcap was hammered GENTLY backwards into it. I used a small rivit to secure it even though that's probably not necessary given the tight fit.
Note that the factory collector's opening is slightly "pinched" narower at its opening so this inner "lip" was ground flat FIRST.
I would guess ANY 3A pipe will fit that has a 2" inlet. The one I used was a 63-0544.

Why not put two cans on and get double the sound. duals are where its at sound wise. you dont see 5.0 or cobras or vipers or vettes with one xhaust

You also don't see them with 1.35L engines in them. 4-1 is where it's at on small engines.

Wanted to TEST it on one first, will experiment with the second another time. I was also worried about having WAAAY too little back pressure with two "straight" pipes and not re-mapping for fuel-air mixture since just one 3A pipe allows more flow than BOTH stock cans combined.

I don't know dick about engines as far as mods go (what's safe/good/bad/etc), but that's what I figured too.

There's a reason why none of the drag racers run duals.

usually if i disagree or dislike something, i respectfully hit back without commenting, but i can't this time. I have to say that your exhaust is terribly ugly. I'm glad you're happy with it, but performance can't possibly be enhanced when you are squeezing double the exhaust through that mid pipe, plus you plugged the second pipe AFTER it has already done a Y.

Duals give you more low end and midrange. 4-1 gives you the most peak power. So if your at high revs all the time (racing) a 4-1's the best power maker. A 4-2-1 system gives you a little more low/midrange with good peak numbers. A 4-1-2 (stock 14/busa set-up) gives you the most even spread of power....but gives up a few peak ponies to do it

After I gutted my stock cans, I temporarily plugged the left side of the collector and went out for a ride with just the right side can installed. Remember it was gutted. Anyway, it was way too loud for me with just the one can. On the way home my temporary plug blew out of the collector and it got really loud !!! I bet with two of the 3A,s installed the sound would be deeper and even more mellow. Maybe I will try two down the road just for kicks. I really like the looks of the 3A. Two might look and sound even better. Yeah...I know...I am a redneck !! Thats what happens when you live in SW Missouri !!! Thanks again NYC...I appreciate your time and info !!!

NYC ZX-14, is it possible to get full pics of the bike.

Kinda hard to see what you're working with.

Still nice to see something different.

Bet you're just PISSSED you spent thousands on your:
"Tsukigi full system, pipercross race filter, pcIII " LOLOLOL
And yes, performance CAN be enhanced since the exhaust flow is HIGHER now given there are no cats or baffles to restrict the flow like there were in the stock cans.
