I have heard of the bigger guys having the detent arms crygenically treated, to make them stiffer for positive shifts.... Chip Hunter mentioned it to me a while back.

My years of Motocross experience with U4 is that the propylene additive is an oxygen additive, which leans out carburation , but also acts as a coolant in the intake charge, cooling the cylinder head!
Generally about a 5% addition to the fueling will be sufficient, and in some cases you can throw more timing at it.
The older U4, I used was 96 octane.
The most noticable change in Motocross form was better throttle response.
A 450 only makes~ 50 RWHP, so you may see a more noticable power increase with bigger displacements.

HOLY THREAD RESURRECT BATMAN!!!

I know this thread has been dead for a long time, but I had a couple questions after talking with Jesse on the phone today. He mentioned that he thought the thin head gasket didn't really give him all that much hp (he was guessing around 3-4 hp). I also can't get mr9 in my area, but u4.2 is available. It seemed to help with my mph, is anybody else using u4.2?

Hey Lee i have been watching Jessie, and the Kid is fast and a lot more disciplined style of riding since the first time he spoked to me! Atleast now with the dyno you can give him a fighting chance with all that money he is up against. Its also refreshing to see real hp figures,if i had posted last year that most 14's- busa's with bolt ons make around 169 -178 hp i would have been shot Hee.Hee! I am definitely going to watch Jessie's progress. Have you given any thought to running SS with the 09? I have gotten the green light from my surgeon to race again and you know i am gonna run SS, LOVE THE SWB classes i just need to lose about 15lbs. I told jessie i would give him some backing next season if he stick's with it so i will either come get the bike or the motor in the off season ..............Bill

Jesse and I are trying to work out a trade between my alien head and his orient express. I would love to see him winning on a bike with my old exhaust!!!!!!! I also want to see the hp difference btwn the two pipes. He said he was running consistent 120-121 with the orient express pipe.

The alien in itself is worth about 4 hp over the gen-3 ex not sure about the OE. The real increase comes when you use the alien with the motor work your aloud in the class. Brocks short cans with his header system works almost like a sidewinder'' the better the motor breaths the better the ex works. I know what you mean tho giberjj'' be cool to see your old ex in the picture of jessie on the winner's podium.........Bill

That's not what I've been told by Brock. I was told alien head or street meg was maybe 1 to 2 hp more then gen 3.

Smoke, Bill E, Dubious and whoever else that has experimented with U4.2, a friend of mines with a 1417, "07" 14 is wanting to try this U4.2. I d remembered seeing a couple of you guys talking about it here back in July. Now it is Sep and I figured everyone has had more time to experiment with it. Is it worth using over pump, would you map more to the lean side or the rich side when using it and what kind of gains have you made from it? He has the 1417, what kind of gains can he expect?

Guys regarding head gaskets to get a good increase in compression, you can use one layer of the standard head gasket if you like which is thinner than the cometic thin gasket.

The standard gasket uses 2 thickish gaskets and 1 very thin gasket (3 plate). Just use one of the thick gaskets and remove the other thin and thick gasket. Since I re-used mine from stock after cleaning it well with brake cleaner I sprayed it with a special copper gasket spray.

I've done plenty of continuous running with it on the circuit and havent had any problems so far, plus it definately makes a noticeable difference unlike the thin Cometic gasket.

Johnbull: does it mean you have to run race gas, or will 91 octane still suffice?

Race fuel would be better I suppose (say a 102 octane fuel) but I run it on good pump gas (about 95 octane) and with every 20 liters I chuck in a can of Silkolene pro-boost to be safe.

Here is a clip of a couple of weeks ago. This is practice on the Saturday, unfortunately Sunday it broke a half shaft on the start line.

Go to 6:29 in the video, its the orange single seater.

cars badass john! Sounded like alot of those cars were running big bore bike engines: whats the rules say? could you throw a supercharger or turbo(s) on it? Whats it weigh? ... not even gonna ask what it costs for your setup! wellll, I lied: whats that setup cost? lol

No the biggest bike engined cars are ZX14 motored like mine. The bigger CC's use car engines (Ford Cosworth, Honda S2000 etc.)

At the moment I race in the up to 1600cc class.

The racing formula world wide is forced induction = plus 40%. So the ZX14 1352cc X 1.4 = 1893cc which would put me in the up to 2000cc class.

I am planning on supercharging the engine in the near future. Was going to go for bore and stroke up to 1530cc but I dont think that the bigger bore would be reliable enough to run 15/20 minute circuit races, so it looks like I'm gonna go for the Rotrex supercharger.

My car weighs 405kg. The single seater I won the local championship with last year which I built myself and is the yellow ZX14 engined one in the video weighs 348kg.

I would say that my car after I had fitted the engine and built the back end to take the bike engine and chain drive differential etc. costed me about 23/25,000 euro. That is not calculating all the work hours I put into it to do it.

Couple of pics.

More pics! Where does the mufflers exit, and what does that rear end cost? Would love to put that setup into my Baja fiberglass body designed for a volkswagon pan/drivetrain. !! 180rwhp would rip!

Cheers James,

I'm off to try the car this afternoon since I've beefed up the rear half shafts by using thicker VW Golf CV's.
