Mods & Dynos on '08?
Hi everyone. This is my first post here. Please help because I have been experiencing some trepidation over going with the best and the newest only to find that the hp is down and possibley a "flat spot" in the powerband around 4,500rpm. I'm regretting going with the '08 and not buying a brand new '07 ZX-14.
I hope many of you will give me the benefit of your experience with modding my '08 14. I have read through many posts and I see that a lot of you are doing the flies/PC/pipes routine just like the '06-'07 owners.
1. How do you feel about improvements with some or all of the above mods?
2. Has anyone got dyno #s for a modded '08?
3. Would full system be better than slips to elimenate the cat in collector?
4. Are the maps from the manufacturers working as well for the '08 as Ivan's did for the'06-'07?
5. Any thoughts on changing the '08 ECU to an '07? Would this even make a difference if a PC was run with an aftermarket fuel map?
Thank you for any answers you can offer.

I got a 08 with a Brocks short meg with Brocks street map with flies in with stock air filter. I'am super happy with the Brocks street map. Great street set up. My bike came alive with
the Brock pipe and Brocks map.

Ive got an '08 with Full Muzzy system, BMC race air filter, flies out and a PC3 with a modded Muzzy map. The difference is VERY noticable. Wheel comes right up at 3-4k rpm with a little roll off/roll on action.
Had it dynoed last weekend (theres a recent thread about it) and it pulled 165hp/95tq. Thats low to the numbers posted here but the dyno was a trailer dyno and the operators say it was 10% low. Sticks n' Stones on this forum pulled 170hp on his '07.
Keep in mind i wasnt running synthetic oil like him and my bike has >3000miles on it yet.
The 08's keep up just fine

Rook, from what I've seen by the time you've done the mods there's virtually no difference between 06/07 and 08.
I think an exhaust change and 'flies out is the way to start, the rest is up to you.

Thanks for info. A lot of what I've read that compared the first and second gen ZX-14 looked a little discouraging. Looks like the outlook for an '08 with mods is good>>maybe even a bit more hp and a couple 'lbs more torque. Glad I asked.
It looks like a lot of people are viewing this topic so I would think many out there are curious about the subject. I'm grateful for the replies thus far. It would help the '08 owners if there was just a couple more replies, even if you have no new information to add. A couple more positive opinions would make me feel like we were arriving at a concensus. Thanks.
