Hanging My Head
I must apologize to the 14 owners out there. After a LOOOOOng day at work, I rode the hour for my second time on a real track. I have more power, less weight, and ready for more experience. It was fairly crowded at the track, and I only got three runs. The first run, a dude from the motorcycle club called out to a friend on a Gixxer 1000 to "take me out". We lined up, and although I didn't feel comfortable out of the hole, and not a good start, I smoked the guy. Real proud of myself...until I saw my timeslip.
After two more runs - one worse, one better - I decided I should cut my wrists from shame at the embarassment that I may cause other 14 riders to feel. I didn't, however, because of watching the guy on a piped, stretched, and lowered BADASS 'Busa run several low to mid twelves.
So after pondering the situation, I've decided that my 13 runs compares unfavorably to Smokins' 800 runs, and that I should probably practice more. That's my story, horrifying as it may be.

Lol, don't beat yourself up. As long as you were having a good time and getting more seat time you'll improve. The day that you stop enjoying yourself, you need to worry. My 235 lb friend on his alien headed 08 busa is running the same times as me now. I should have let him keep taking off with his feet under him knees bent sitting straight up lol. Now that his 60s are going down it's a matter of time until he beats me lol.

SH.....you just need to relax, go out there and make passes...The most important thing is try to remember what you did & how the bike felt when you get back to the pits and look over your time slip...

I could care less if I look like a 'nugget'. There's always someone faster, and theres always someone running their sucks---from the bleachers..... Until you get out there and just do it, you're just a spectator. You gotta start somewhere.
I've never had times or timeslips---just a ghetto tree heads up. They have finally built a real racetrack which actually gives you time slips. I can't wait to get home so I can start getting faster. I'll guarantee I'm in the 12s right now. DILLIGAF???

Agreed.
My 60's suck, I wheelie, I hit the rev limiter, and I'm sure someone thinks my riding sucks.
Until they walk in my drag-racing shoes, I don't care - I'm having fun! And....no jail time!

Hey ZX6reaker my man, I was just funnin' around, being a little playful. Don't EVER worry about what someone out there thinks! Get out there and have some fun. Just do it, as Nike might say. I LOVE it. No cops to worry about, no deer, no morons pulling out in front of me. I've ridden all the way out there two other times and the place was closed for no reason. Grrrr ... But I'll keep going!
So to the particulars for the curious. My first time out, completely stock except for a BMC street filter I ran 11.1/11.3 the first two, then around 10.7-10.8 the rest. My last run I beat a Gixxer 1000 by 3 bike lengths and he ran a 10.44. My slip said 10.8, We never did figure that out. I was running consistently in the 1.8's. Red lighted some because this track does that if your reaction time is better than .05. Temp was around 100.
This time I've got a 16t sprocket, and Brock's SMEG. The pcIII and tune happens next Friday. Temp was about 72. Only three runs and tire was definitely cold. I ran 11.1/11.3/11.0, Waited a bit to not red light. 60's were in the HIGH 1.9's. I'm having the worst trouble getting my long-ass legs up, and spend too much time doing that. The good thing is that my terminal speed was about 4 miles an hour better.
So practice, practice, practice. And MUCHO fun!

That day may just come Mr.Rocket, but more like next year. Geez, you would think here in Texas I could find more areas to just practice launches! You find a desolate road and do a couple into 2nd gear then move on, 'cause soon a copper will be rolling by. Where the hell do they all come from? Like fire ants. I'll be back out to the track next Sunday. Any fastees around here go to the San Antonio Raceway?

UPDATE:
Went to the track tonight and partook in a few passes. Started at the same old 11.01, then ran off four 10.9's. Crap. But then ran a 10.75, 10.70, 10.61, then a 10.40. Heading in the right direction at least.

I went to the track here a few weeks ago and made 20 passes. I felt sorry for my bike lol. I usually make 2 passes then stand around and bs for a while so that my bike can cool off. One of these days I want to go to a 1/4 mle track, but I'll keep practicing at my 1/8th mile for now because I really don't want to run 10's lol.

I actually was just going to run the 1/8th on about 3/4's of my runs. That first 330 is where I obviously need the practice. Unfortunately, the big Zed just kept going. I'm getting the power commander and my tune on Friday, so I'll feel more comfortable running it so hard. 14 wanted more! I had to pull it kicking and screaming away from the track. lol
