Sidewinders/Street Clearance/Photos?
I know that a sidewinder is not a good choice for the street. That being said, I have no problem cruising around on this bike, with the large air filter sticking out of the side:
Is a sidewinder worse than this at the header? Or does it drag the muffer more? If anyone has some pictures from a similar angle, that would be great!

Ohh yeah...
Get a sidewinder and watch what happens when you make the right turn at the end of the 1/4 @ MIR...
Actually I should say listen to what happens!!!

I usually see the guys make a long u-turn before heading back up...
I'm interested in which drags first, the megaphone or the header?

The megaphone hits first and trust me you don't have to lean far to make it hit ....

I wonder how it would be if you did away with the megaphone and ran it up to a standard muffler?

No...you would be able to use the Adams lowered oil pan. And you could drop the pan without removing the exhaust. Those would be the two main reasons I would want a sidewinder.

I think you will see more benefit from the lowering of the bike (with the Adams pan), being able to launch harder, than the few hp gain. What do you think, Lee?

True that's why Brock made it so you could get lower ... But if you want it lower you need to knoch the swing arm or get an aftermarket swing arm that has a cut out for the fuel pump ... You will also need that tiger under tail so the tire doesn't rub ... ...

sure physically it can be done - but what would you gain??? why not just use a gen3/smeg instead of reinvent the wheel

I know it's not just a bolt-on affair. I think everyone likes the idea of getting lower, but the sidewinder is apparently too much compromise for any street riding. I already plan to add the tiger tail, and I was considering gettting a notched arm at some point.
Pulling the oil pan today got me to thinking....

If you were dragracing or had to pull your oil pan in order to check for clutch debris, you would understand.

I have a muzzy sidewinder that I bought from lee awhile back and have only tapped it once when I first got it.I usually turn the wheel a little more and keep the bike a little straighter and have no problems.

i ride on the street, mid hole muzzy links..i have no problem , but i dont do fast corners to the right anymore. been on for a couple months now and havent scraped it yet. i do plan to drop to the lowest position and think it will be a little more sensitive to right handers( like slow and vertical only)

Shane you could get a little more clearance with the Muzzy M-14 sidewinder, checkout Ninjaboy's bike,
the pipe is right up against the peg compared to Smokin's pic with the Brock's pipe

Yeah, I was thinking M14 Sidewinder. I took some measurements today. If you run a 2" pan and a straight link you can drop the bike about 1 3/4" in the front (fender clearance might limit this) and less than 1" in the rear, when compared to a standard setup with the drain plug moved.
Actually that Brocks doesn't look too bad either, thanks for the pics!
