Acceleration Knock
I have been noticing an obvious knock on had acceleration lately. I burn 92 octane fuel but what else could be causing this? It is not subtle, it is a real knock when twisting the go stick.

Is this knock sound at low RPMs or High RPMs .. Under heavy load or light load? Can't you hear it sitting still by blipping the throttle ? Can you hear it with your helmet off or just when you have your helmet on?
I have seen gas stations mess up before and got 87 when it was labled 92 .. Might want to try some gas from another station and see what happens ...Sometime the 92 get goes bad because it set so long in the tanks ...Not many people buy 92 these days ..

Good question. Mine does this as well. I can hear it just blipping the throttle from idle. I don't ever get on it hard from idle when I'm riding so I don't know if it does it then.

Sure it is a motor knock and not the clutch or tip sensor?

I'm pretty sure. It almost sounds like piston slap more than vavles. It's a knock not a tap.

It knocks under load under moderate to heavy throttle. It is quite noticeable.

Mine has had a knock since i got it new ... You can hear it on light accell from about 1500 to 3000 after that you can't hear it .. I hear it better with my helmet on for some reason .. I hear it best at low speeds driving around town .... Doesn't seem to be a problem after 800 1/4 mile passes and 3500 street miles ..I have heard more than a few zx14 with the same knocking sound and none of the have ever had a problem .... I'm not sure that is your knocking sound because i haven't heard yours but it soulds like it might be the same as mine ..

It's probably the same. My first one did not knock at all so I just wondered what was up. The gas here all has that ethanol crap in it. You used to be able to but "non Oxygenated" (no ethanol) fuel at some stations but that is not the case anymore.

Every motor does that including cars...I have been told that's not good for the motor, just keep the R's up above the motor lugging...
Depending on your gearing, that will happen at a lower or higher RPM...
