Didn't realize how big of a piece of crap my bike was.....

Then I went to the Suzuki dealership last night. That guy had no problem telling me how crappy my ZX14 is. I had no idea, I can't believe anyone would ever buy one of these things!!!!

What's bad is that I was actually in there looking to purchase a 600, 750, or 1000. He had one that I was halfway interested in. I had no desire to trade in my 14, I was planning on purchasing an additional bike. That was before he felt the need to start bashing my bike and telling me about the "200" hp busa that is smoother, handles twice as nice, and is so much more stable than mine. According to him our bikes aren't even stable at 185 but you can ride a busa at 185 all day long.

I attempted to have a civilized conversation with the guy but it didn't work out. I ended up walking out and heading down to the Yamaha dealership. If I do end up buying a Suzuki it sure as hell won't be from that shop.

It was funny, he also argued with me about insurance costs. I asked him why it costs so much more to insure Suzuki's than pretty much any other brand, especially Kawasaki. He told me that wasn't true, they weren't any more expensive than any other brand. I have checked insurance rates many times, Suzuki's are always more expensive (except with State Farm).

I actually checked with Geico yesterday on an 07 ZX6R and on an 07 GSXR 600. A year of insurance for the ZX6R is $388.12 a year, the GSXR 600 would cost $639.50 a year to insure. The 07 hayabusa would cost me almost $900 a year to insure compared to the $465 a year I'm paying to insure my 07 ZX14.

This guy was pretty obnoxious, I had to fight to try to even get a word in. He is actually the first motorcycle salesman that I have encountered like this. Granted they all try to push their brand of bikes, that's understandable. He is the first that has actually slammed all other brands.

I find that the salesman at large-overhead shops are usually a lot more pushy. If they are really dressed up (tie, etc) that can give you a pretty good idea of how much comission they hope to make off of you.

I'm not saying that it's always the case, but just what I've encountered around here...

Agreed, if he would have done more listening instead of talking the results probably would've been different. I guess he never understood why he was blessed with 2 ears but only 1 mouth.....Use the ratio wisely!

Lowcel-Shame you have to defend your bike to this degree. Some have put these bikes with such high regards, they become unappreciative for anything different then what they have accepted. Good luck hunting..

Thanks, I tried discussing numbers with him and reviews but it was pointless. I figured out pretty quick that he knew "everything". What's funny is that I have never said nor really felt that my bike is "better" than a hayabusa. I just think they are comparable and that it is going to come down to personal preference. There is no doubt that the hayabusa is an amazing machine.

tell us where the dealer is..........anybody up for a ride... maybe a parking lot full of zx 14s will change his mind. people like that are supposed to promote the sport not tear it down. the cagers already do enough of that with their mercy killing left hand turns and not being alert behind the wheel of 5000 pounds of steel and glass.but officer ............I did not see him

Hi Guy, I just order a 08 zx14 on the weekend waiting for it now to arrived so I can drive it off the lot .. I did a lot of investigation on both the Kaw zx14 and the busa. they both have there good point and bad points. But I had to go with Kaw. zz14. there is a lot of potential in this bike that has not yet be unleashed. Please it's very easy on the wrist for some thing this powerful you don't want to have swore wrist at any given time. Kaw for Life ..!!!!!

The guy was probably in his mid to late 40's and has been working at the shop for years. It was Russ at Casto Motorcycle Sales in Charleston, WV.

Stupid salesman !!! I ran into a guy at the drags who recently purchased an 08 Busa. Was looking the bike over and told him I liked the way the 08 looked. He then began telling me what a piece of crap my 06 ZX14 was. He said they are all dogs and you have to do things to them to make them fast. He asked if I thought my bike was fast in stock form. I said its not fast stock but it will beat a Busa...ha !!! His Busa already had a Brocks exhaust, power commander, -2 front sprocket, shinko rear tire, lowered and strapped. He ran a 10.3 in the quarter. Didnt want to talk with me after that run. Some people should think before they open their mouths....including that salesman !!!

That jerk doesn't know what he's talking about. I guess he missed the 1st lesson of sales school-"Don't bash the competition". Maybe he should be a politician.
Every test on the bikes basically comes down to preferences and rider ability. Last year, I was leaning to the Busa just because of all the hype but I tried both bikes last November and definitely the 14 is more comfortable for my Big & Tall frame. I haven't looked back since I bought my '07 that November.

What a tool! A guy like that might sell a Suzuki to a guy that wants to upgrade but he will have a hard time getting anybody to switch brands when he is bashing the bike they already own and are attached to.

I looked at a '08 Busa for about the time it took me to notice it's rear end. Bikes are not like chicks. A couple beers can make any girl look good (sometimes a couple cases). I don't care how much beer I drink, the Busa's rear will never look good. Good thing I own a 14, I will problably never have to see the rear of a Busa again

I bet that guy does get a lot of sales though because there are plenty of squids out there that think nothing on the planet can beat a Suzuki. Also, he may be used to bullying the locals (especially if it's a Suzuki leaden town) into buying the bike he wants you to buy. Honestly though, he is missing out on tons of opporunities if that is how he treats all his customers who doesn't ride the zooks.

Having previously been involved in sales myself, I think this thread's funny as hell. That guy burnt you, and you were the buyer. How dumb is that? Every one's comments are right on the money. In sales, much like any relationship, you only ever emphasise Positive, Positive, Positive. People that feel good spend good. Negativity is usually a tool of a poor salesman. You were spot on to burn him and walk.

This is the main reason i got my 14....just about every riding buddie i know that rides a Suzuki hates on Kawasaki, even if i outrun them or outlast them....ect. I think Suzuki makes some great motorcycles and i would love to own one but i couldnt for this very reason. Where i live i go to 4 different dragstrips around here, and me and Specialzx14 are the only 2 14's in North Al that race...thats sad, compared to the 8 million busa's that we have to race agianst...and boy do we get the looks. This is a great bike, i dont understand the concern about riding one!!!

I get ewwwww's and ahhhhh's wherever I take the ZX14 including the dragstrip. Took it in this week for the mandatory state inspection and even the lesbian at the station ewed and ahed over the bike. Turns out she has a 600 Ninja. Actually she was kinda cute and I offered to take her for a ride but she declined. She said if I ride one I will have to buy one...ha!!!
