Just my 2 cents, I know we have the best government money can buy, but it frustrates me that our country rewards irresponsibility, laziness, and poor choices, while it penalizes those who are responsible, hard working, and successful. Personally, I've already had enough of government "spreading the wealth around." Also, with a democratic full house, there's no way the Bush tax cuts will be extended. I have a friend who re did his 07 taxes using the 2000 tax tables. He says that when the Bush tax cuts go away, he will pay about $4000 more in taxes. Finally, I hear a lot of anger in these posts, and think we'd all be better of if the anger was vented on the politicians who have for decades, consistently failed to address, let alone solve the biggest problems this country has and continues to face.

The chimp in the oval office has killed more Americans than bin laden has, because of his bad planning. Not to mention 10 times more Iraqis than saddam ever did. Stupid mistakes in response to changing events is one thing, deliberate ineptness is all together another.
This country is in shambles, in case no one has noticed. The economy is in the toilet, people are losing their jobs, our military is overstretched, our standing throughout the civilized world is at an all time low, our infrastructure is crumbling etc. What does it take for people to realize that we need a different course? Sure McCain finally realizes that there is a problem but his solutions are no different than bush's. And it doesn't work.

Do you really think Obama is the right guy for the job or just that you don't want to see another republican in the white house? Not many people are happy with Bush including most republicans but I am puzzled that I never hear how good Obama is for this country but rather how bad Bush was. Just wondering what your thoughts are?

Fair question. Both suck. McCain is too much like bush, so that leaves only one choice. The anti bush candidate. AND most economists feel that McCains (bushes) plan will hurt more than help and Obama's plan will help. And privatizing Social Security is the worst idea ever, and McCain supports that.

If Bush would not have been such a puke, I think McCain would have won this election. However, he is now the lamb before the slaughter.
I don't think whoever gets in will be able to make enough of a difference in their first term to get them re-elected. One of my biggest fears with Obama is that I am a small business owner. The last 5 years have all been record years. I think we will survive the next 4 years but I am guessing it will be tough. Time will tell.

And in the small world department I actually knew a guy who claimed to have personal knowledge of their affair.
Back during my first marriage when my wife was still in law school one of her study group buddies threw a weekend BBQ get together. This was before Clinton was elected but was in the news for being a ladies man. This guy was very smart and as part of his education had studied and become very fluent in Cantonese. He would make money for college over the summer by being a translator for European and American tourist groups in China.
He was hanging out in the hotel bar between tour groups when a secret service guy comes up to him and says manager tells me your an American, says your a Translator? Yeah Good your working for us the next couple of days. George Bush is staying at the hotel for a couple of days and we need your help with the hotel staff, locals etc.
He said all in all it was very boring and a pain in the ass but he said he would never forget to things that happened. First, after they ran his passport and checked him out the first thing these guys wanted to know, and interrogated at some length about details, was where were the best hookers in town.
The second was when he was hanging out with these guys one night and one of them points out Jennifer Fitzgerald and says, "See that bitch? Whatever you do don't piss her off. She's Bush's mistress"
As for moral deprivates apparently the apple doesn't fall far from the tree....

Well that is a tough one. A few weeks ago I would have said absolutely for the mere fact that ending the Iraq war and that alone would bring speculation down and them actually putting more oil on the market because they will need the money and fears of the supply being disrupted will diminish. Among many other reasons.
BUT with the stock market going down the prices are way low. McCain in office would help continue that trend. So that has to be factored in.
Now I am hearing that credit may be thawing, and some of the experts are saying the volatility in the market is a sign of it hitting rock bottom. So if oil rises again then I am back to the no war = lower oil prices. IMHO.

After speaking for just over a quarter of an hour, Biden noticed the media presence in the back of the small ballroom.
