Power Commander LCD

Hey guys looking for some feedback.....Is the Power Commander LCD Unit worth the $300. I dont race alot, but would like to know more of what the engine is doing...for optimum tuning...... What else can you use this thing for?? Just for tuning purposes? Just kind of wondering what exactly the LCD unit does, ive read about it on power commanders web site... Any feed back from what u guys think of it, use it for, how user friendly it is would be great!

Thanks
Wrench

Unless you are running more than one map it's basically something to play with.
You can tune just fine with a PC. (And a dyno!) :P
There are plenty of other ways to spend $300.00 that would improve performance with better results.

love mine , with the 1 gig card it will hold a million maps plus you record and play back your rides. runs, etc. it really helps you know what is going on with the bike, plus it is way cool. i got mine brand new on ebay for 239 with a lifetime warranty. no shit.

I'm with bigdtd! I love my LCD.
I used it all winter on my snowmobile, then simply unplugged it and put it on my ZX14!!
I logged tons of runs on my snowmobile with it. Great tuning tool. Plus I have a ton of maps in it...allowing instant changes while driving!!

Works good for me also, But if i thought more about it i would not buy it again. Holds maps of course, But you cant load a map directly into the unit you have to have it hooked up to the PC. Found this to be a pain. Also the screen is very very easy to scratch. But it is water resistant, Wash my bike with no problems. Also the screen is almost impossible to see in direct sunlight. Nice toy thats about it.

Jeff. I'd contact Dynojet about your scratches. I use mine at -35c and it's -20c on average for 3 months. I am always pressing on it with winter gloves on. I have not one scratch.

As for the pain in the ass loading maps....why not leave the LCD hooked up like bigdtd and myself have done?

Using the LCD at the track is a breeze. Wanna lean out the top end fuel? Do it right from the LCD without having to change the map! Lots of tricks can be done from the LCD screen on the fly!!

How accurate is the Dynojet rev counter, does it read true or is it optimistic like the ZX-14's instrument?

Never really never noticed till now, but the speedo on the LCD does'nt seem to be workin. Since it came on the bike I really don't have any paper that came with it, guess there should be something on the website. Should do that anyway, never really knew all the things that it'll do.

The speedo has to be hooked up to the speed sensor. Then you have to calibrate it, either by looking at the bike's speedo or a GPS.

I know " Holy Thread ressurection" but I was searching for answers .

Question do you need a hub as well as the lcd or can you use it seperately?
Didn't want to have to buy both, I was told the LCD was the better option, due to adjustablity.

Thanks for any answers in advance!

you don't need a hub to use the lcd, it plugs right into the power commander, but you would need the hub to use a speed sensor or nitrous switch or shift light in conjunction with the lcd and power commander. the lcd is great for storing maps, logging runs, and tuning on the fly. it gives you real time info on the fuel system that gives you a better picture of what the bike is doing with regard to throttle position, injector duty cycle %, fuel map% and displays map information. i have it mounted to the techmount with velcro and can remove it easily to attach to the home computer for updated maps and file management via the usb cable. mine is rugged and has been dropped and used for over 2 years with no problems.

Great thanks, now does the LCD plug into the mini USB or the 9v connection?
I ask because I am using thequickshifter option for my airshifter.

Thanks for the reply!

it plugs into the 9v connection. It has a USB too, which comes in handy.

I wish there was a 90 degree connector for the LCD; it would make for a cleaner install (routing the cable out of sight). I called Dynojet, but they didn't have any suggestions.
