very unhappy

hey people tell me what the problem is. i have a 07 14 flies out, drop in map (thats been richened) m4 slip ons, stretched 7, and a 40 shot geared 16/43. i have left at all rpm's best 60ft has been high 1.40's low 1.50's. but i always run a 6.30. its like the bike dies after 60ft. is it because it has not been tuned or what i dont understand! i think the bike is too heavy i wish i would have bought a 1000 the 14 seems weak to me now.

What's your weight? Is the bike Bogging? With those 60 fts you should be running 5.90's to 6.0's. I'm 216 in shorts and ran 5.86 on my 14 with no NOS with a 1.45 60 ft. But then again I had Brock System and map.

First get rid of them crappy slip ons and crappy map ... I bet money a stock zx14 makes the same hp as your does now ..

Second you need more seat time .

Third you think you are slow now ? go ahead and get a 1000 and you will be real slow ... A new Busa with the mods you have now you would still be slow ...

Now go Order a Brocks Smeg and race map and get some seat time ...

Get a full system and a descent tune in the bike. IF your sixty's and 330 are there and the bike isnt running the time then you need to adjust the things that are making the power i.e. the pipe and tune, it isnt the bike itself we have seen over and over again the the 14 is a proven platform and with the right equipment and rider it will provide the results you are looking for... Oh yeah SEAT TIME SEAT TIM AND MORE SEAT TIME

Are you venting, or asking for advice? If you're venting, try having No local track, or unable to ride for a year. Thank God there's a new local track I can use next summer!

If its advice you need, add some more info:
1. Drop in map? That alone can be 90% of your problem. 40 Shot with a 'richened' map?
2. Like smokin' said, dump the slip-ons & more seat time.
3. What are you doing diifferent between now an your 6.17 run?
4. Is the bike strapped and lowered?
5. Document everything you do to your bike. suspension settings, times, temp, humidity, tire pressure, etc. Race against your own best time, not 'everyone else' at the track. If you study up on what you're doing wrong, you can fix it one step at a time.
6. Is the tire breaking loose at mid-track? Launch?
7. Extended swingarms don't do shit for you if your suspension is not set correctly, they will actually hurt your times if not dialed in.
8. What kind of tires? Pressure?
9. Is it a well prepped track? Or do you have to pick small line for traction?
10. You may be over-geared...
11. Is your NOS set up correctly?
12. Swap bikes with someone else, see if they can provide feedback for whats possibly wrong---this could also prove that its you and not the bike.
13. I think if you take an honest assessment of the bike, you will see where the flaws are that are hurting your times. I usually make two runs, park the bike, take notes, make adjustments and then 2 more runs, maybe 3 to see if I can get consistent results. My problem is usually my consistency, not the bikes.
14. Elevation?
***Didn't add any of these comments as an insult, but I've learned just as much reading/listening as I have at any track day on my own.

The more info you can give, the better chances that someone can help....works for me anyway. Best of Luck.

What RPM do you go to second gear?
The 1-2 shift is the most important .
short shift second and you just wasted your good 60'.
When do you pick your feet up.
Air or foot shifter.
You better be very light if you think you are going to go faster on a 1000.

There are just too many variables when dealing with fuel maps, this is exactly why I chose Brock's SMEG, the map support alone was worth $300 to me.

I can't fathom adding NOS to the mix....I'd be hella lost.

Must be your tune or you just need more seat time. I run 6.10's on my ZRX12 with 155hp SAE. First time Smokin let me ride his 14 I pulled a 6.20 leaving very easy.

specialzx14- I know you've heard this in the above responces, please lose the slip-ons!!! All of the members that have purchases slip-ons have stated, no inhance performance but they liked the look of dual exhaust. By the sound of your thread you want performance and cosmetics is secondary, change to a full exhaust 4-1. I'm partial to Brock due to the most HP/torque out of all manufacturers(IMHO). I can personally convest to the performance gains. If you look in the Classified section on this board, I'm sure you can pick one up used if you want to shave some cost. Give your 14 a fighting chance before you get too sour about it, good luck

I was the same way. I was going to buy some Two Brothers slipons for the sound and I liked the looks better. After getting an earful from members on this site, and from dynoing and talking with Johnny Cheese, I am definitely going to get the Brocks full smeg system. Like I've been told, if you are going to spend the money, might as well get the performance. I AM definitely looking, so if anyone on here knows of a system for sale, please let me know. Good luck specialzx-14!

Well see, i dont outrun him every time, its back and forth, i am kinda frustrated too, but alot of mine is my weight , i proly weigh 260lb with leathers, but the best i can get is a 6.23 on motor, but i have a few more parts than he does so i am gonna try the brocks exhaust and a good tune and if that doesnt do it, i guess i will just keep thorwing money at it.

Going from a Muzzy 4into1 to a Brocks sounds like one big waste of money to me. The extra 5-8 hp gain (IF your Muzzy isn't a M10/M14 combo which makes same or more power than Brocks Smeg) is not worth the $1,000 spent!! Better off spending that money on a custom PCIII map and seat time at the local track with an earful of advice from the fast guys at the track.

Don't pantsy ass it when it comes to asking advice, or asking a skilled rider to ride your bike. Even if it's a 'Busa or literbike rider, most of them would be more than glad to help!

And I've never known a racer to turn down a chance to ride a competing manufacturers bike, or offer up advice on things he see's you doing wrong. And if he runs your bike, you can be assured he'll take it to its limit because he most likely is as interested in the results as you are! Boys are always looking for better toys

couldnt tell you about yoush stuff but heres a quote from a local "tuner" about two brothers

"They suck, customer came in for a custom map. 2008 ZX-14 we normally get 175-178 piped and tuned with pump gas & 180-183 with race fuel depending on the pipe and fuel.

Two Brothers full system: 166 HP almost less than stock he spent almost 1K....save your money. Another example of bent tubes and no R&D."

I don't buy that BS about Two Brothers. I put there slip-ons on and imediately noticed a seat of the pants difference. I couldnt bring the front tire up with a rollon power wheelie in second gear before, after it I could do it every time! I guesstimated about a 8-10 hp diff, all at top end. Couldn't compare it to my full M10/M14 Muzzy though, did too many mods at once.
