To buy a used '06 or wait for an '09

I am in the market for a new bike. I have ridden a number of sportbikes over the years and even a harley davidson v-rod for the last two. I have a line on a used '06 with aftermarket pipe, power commander, hi-perf air filter, and other goodies for about 3k under new msrp. Anyone have any advice on what to look for on a used ZX, or anything I should look out for before I buy?

Elwoode, exactly how much is he asking and what are all the goodies?

There are some killer deals on used 14's out there, but there are also killer deals sitting right on the showroom floors. Shop around before you commit to this one particular bike. I assure you that if it sells before you buy it, there will be another good deal to be found.

Have you ridden a 14 yet? It's definitely not in the same league as the vRod.

If it were me, i'd get a used 2006 for a reasonable price and do all the key mods, and keep it............till a ZX 15 comes out.

That sounds a little TOO good to be true for a new bike..........they would have to be vlosing a good amount of money on each bike if thats what they are selling em for.

$7800 for a new '07? Does sound too low....but If they were selling new '07's around here for that...my wife would be pissed.

Sure would be nice to set up a 2nd 14 as a commuting bike.

I'd say it depends on how important "new" is to you.

If you want a well sorted bike which already has the pipe/pc etc then second-hand could be the way to go, provided you can find the right bike at the right price. When you compare prices remember to add the cost of the exhaust, power commander and any other goodies to the cost of the new bike so you compare like with like, they are actually a lot more than 3k apart.

I would never buy a used bike, you dont know what your getting...Unless you own or work in a bike shop or dealer !!!

I'd sooner just wait for the new 09's. The market is such crap that fewer people are buying "luxury toys" and chances are you can get a real awesome deal on it if the dealership offers incentives. I am anxious to see the new colors but if they come out with some retarded scheme there is always the Sapphire Blue and the Atomic Silver to fall back on.

I paid 8500 for my 07. It wasn't off floor but basically new. Guy bought new in feb, put 1100 miles on it and sold it to me in may. All he had done was put lowering links on it. He also was older like 43 and said it scared him and he never got it over 110. So I was like yea this is the one for me. Neways did I get beat?

P.S. And everyone knows the LE is the fastest hahha

Right, I bought it out of state and paid my state's 6% sales tax when I transfered my old tag to it. That added about $500 bringing me to just below $9k w/ tax, title, tag.

For anyone who's interested the dealer just recently got 3 more 07 leftover's in stock and has them up on Ebay for $8299 They are in West Virginia..

I'm the other way....I won't buy new....you lose too much in depreciation and spend twice what you should :0 I bought my 14 8 months old with 1500 miles on it, bone stock and clean as a whistle for 7300. The poor sucker I bought it from had paid over 12000 for 8 months of ownership and 1500 miles of riding, because it just came out and he had to have one right now. If you know what to look for in used bikes you can get pretty much new for almost half price sometimes. I've did it for years and never had a bad one yet But I also buy low mileage and bone stock only
