ZX14 Vs. Busa

well after another weekend at the track i still feel my 14 is not what it should be, That being said i never did lose a race. The Busa boys HATE me( and there is plenty of them), they show up with drag seats, nos, and air shifters, MR9 and sportin enclosed trailers with fans and battery chargers and here i come riding mine in from 40 miles out foot shifting with 87 pump gas. I am no smokin but i seem to run consistent 1.44 60's all night long and i cant help but think its the bike and not so much the rider. I seem to out 60 these boys all night long and as long as i dont screw up shifting its all over. Even after blowing the lights and giving 1/10 up at the line i still managed to pull off the win.

Problem is there is this one pro rider ( like 160lbs) that tends to show up from time to time. he gets on this Busa and i lose the 60' advantage, it is usually really close but i dont like to lose!!! so its time for me to kick this thing up a notch. I'm ready to get a air shifter and think i want NOS as well. I think i want to order the Muzzy combo unit tomorrow but i still fear i may damage the Motor. There is really no shop close to me to get advise from, if i could afford to ship it to Ricky Gadson i would. Dallas and Houston are Two hours away and i have no knowledge of reputable shops anyway(any help there would be fine as well) The simple looking install and completeness of the Muzzy kit is the selling point for me, all that would be left is a proper map. I wont have the money to get a data logger , A/F Meter or a progressive controller for a while (due to wedding expenses) i have done all the other work on my bike my self, can i install this, add a percentage to my Brooks map and safely run NOS? Need advise, don't want those Busa boys even close

oh there is a really crappy video on youtube of me making a pass, tell me what you think. Audio is good/ video is poor( not my best pass but close )

my 60s on stock wheel base are mid to high 1.5s right now, a few friends of mine got 08 busas and have no issue pulling the same 60s as you. Last weekend my friend ran 9.22@151mph w a 1.44 60ft on his busa, brocks exhaust, bazzaz and pump gas,hot and somewhat humid, hes 180 unsuited, and thats nothing special to be honest with you hes alittle above avg rider and not the lightest guy there is.
Good luck i wish i can answer you Nitrous questions but unfortenatly my bike is stock motor just like yours. Btw you should probably get some leathers if you going that fast i dont know if its me but it looks like you wearing jeans?

the nitrous shouldn't hurt the motor unless you're planning on a shot bigger than 40hp. if you want to go any bigger it would be a wise investment in upgrading the valve springs. Jus what I've picked up in researching this issue myself

You should be able to run a 30 shot and just richen your map all the way up on the high side. I say you could prob do that with a 40 shot and 93 pump but i would pull a plug after a few pass's and see what it looks like. It also depends on where you spray it at (intake tubes, spray bar) I would fog the tubes with a 40 shot and rich'n it all the way up..make a few pass's see how it's running then go have fun.

Nitrous

I run a 40 shot in the ram air tube with nozzle as close to the front as possible, So many diffrent variables involved that I can only tell you what happened with my bike, 06, Stock Motor, Brocks Smeg, Flies Out, Reed Chambers Blocked, BMC Race Only Filter, on the dyno the air fuel ratio was about 13.2-1 on motor, Richened the power commander all the way up, Sprayed the bike & air fuel ratio was like 13.7 -1, Had to due a custom map in order to get air fuel ratio in the 12.5-1 range, Map was richened up from 7,000 RPM up since I use a window switch to activate the Nitrous at 8,000 RPM.

We used Muzzys NOS shifter combo on JesseJames bike with a 30 shot ... We used 93 pump gas and just set the High side of the P/C 12% ( 6 Bars ) rich ... Never had a problem with the Muzzy kit ..... I made up my own kit with parts from Dynotune . I also ran a 30 shot plumbed into the ram air tubes .. I set the P/C on the high side to 12% rich and never had a problem ... I even sprayed it on U4 but most times i just used 93 pump gas ..

With a 30 shot in the 1/8 mile i would get 5 to 6 passes on the small one pound bottle ..In the 1/4 mile i would get 3 good clean passes with the same 1 pound bottle ...

You're lucky the track didn't make those jeans look like a speedo.
Even cheap leathers will save YOUR HIDE.
Even the pros have bad days, when things do go wrong.
Good luck, be safe and take care of yourself.

I've raced in 100+ degree days and 88 humidity and rode to the track and back in leathers, not the most pleasent time but much rather be safe then sorry.

wheelie u know slo poke? does everyone know him? slo poke has been a great friend of mine at the track he was there with me, I got him 3 out of 3 but there is nothing but love for that guy. one of his boys has the busa w/ nos that can't beat me except when he lets this other dude ride his bike. Even then we r bout 50/50 but an airshifter would improve those #s

well the motorplex is certainly where I'd rather race, way better track that's where I feel my time should be but something has happened to my mph its just went down and don't know y. like I said no support here in the sticks its just me and I work bout 80-100hrs a week so have not been able to spend time to really look into it. which is another reason I hesitate to make any mods that require me to do more maintenance than I do now. which in none, lol even now I'm working typing on my phone

I dont have to tell you how hot it is in Texas right now, there was maybe 15 cars and 6 street bikes, it was like a Private drag strip. you are losing mph cause of the heat!
