Took the turbo to the track
Well I went to the track last night 1/8 mile only. I just have not felt the bike was making the power it should have. Would not wheelie in first or second. But I could not find any issues so off to the track I went. First run 5.98 at 125.68. Second run clutch went out right off the line. Had 187 runs and 2100 street miles on it so can't be pissed. Put a new clutch in today and now it will flip over backwards in 1 thru 3 rd. So i can't wait to get back out to the 1/4 and try for my 8.90. I also think close to 130 is in the cards in the 1/8th. now remember this is a little less the 60 inch wheelbase and no trick clutch. Boost would not come in untill around 8000 before clutch change and now it's there at 4500. Bike is super smooth on the street and rides better then with the Alien head and map. Two thumbs up to Velocity, excellent kit and customer service! And for some of you new people that may not know this is an 08 Busa.

Bad news about the clutch... but I bet you were grinning from ear to ear when you rode it with the new clutch!!! I have seen the pictures of your bike when it was new... but have you posted pictures with the Turbo?? I would like to see it. Have fun and watch that power!!! Good Luck on your goal... seems to me you should be able to get that 8.90 now that the clutch is fixed. Keep us updated!!

Went to the track(1/8) last nite, starting to see more and more turbo Busas, most of them had tags and were street ridin most of the time. Seems like they were nearly all short wheel base and had traction issues, but Damm, they looked and sounded sweet goin down the track. Eventually, I still wanna have a turbo 14, but playin with nitrous right now. Good luck with yours.

I'm sure you're going to fly with that thing with the new clutch in it. Turbos are awesome.
This is my first year back to the dragstrip since about 1985. I have a whole 10 runs under my belt right now. I have a M/T slick which has been giving me problems. Under acceleration, the tire "balloons up" and it was rubbing on the front of the swingarm. It has 2 grooves in it where it was rubbing. I have that problem cured now and I've been messing with different gearing. The slick is so tall and I've been trying bigger sprockets to compensate for it. 47t is next. This will be the last time with the M/T. I have a Shinko on the way.
Here's my best so far, and this was against a constant 40 plus mph headwind:
60 ft - 1.36
1/8 - 5.89 @ 121.05 mph
1/4 - 9.23 @ 145.05 mph
I might've hit the 8's without that wind. That's something I'll never know. I think my mph is so low, too, because of the wind. I'll try again this month and hopefully there won't be any wind and I can do a little better. Experience is the best teacher.

Hey Bently, good to see ya!
What size huffer does Velocity use?
GT 28R, or 30 R... or what?
Got a friend wanting me to build him one this fall, but I have just begun searching for info to decide which system will work best for him.

Lookin' good Bently. Velocity is right down the road..........just south of Lexington, and I am going to ask if they will do my 14. I understand they did a kit fot Bear Racing and it really hauls the mail. Be careful of that oil drain plug my friend........set her down easy.................

Looks great! Did you do anything with the valves/springs? I've heard they are the weak spot on the 08 ....

No work to the springs or valves, they are suppose to be good at 6lbs to 8 lbs boost.

That's water injection correct? How often do you have to fill that?

Bently I bet within a year or so you'll drop in some pistons, rods, lockup, undercut tranny, boost controller and you would not believe how 400 hp feels flowing to your back wheel.

Nice setup! My pipe dream is to bolt a turbo onto my 14. I like the stealth ones though. I havent seen any other than the cycle-logic kit that have the air filter tucked in the fairing and a stock-looking exhaust. Thats what i want. People wont know whats there until they hear the whine and see your tail light vanish

Your giving the average Joe more credit than they deserve. Not one rider on the MDA run to Wendover knew what a turbo bike looked like. A few would stare blankly at the boost gage but too afraid to ask what it was for. One guy on a ZX-10 thought the air cleaner hanging off the side was some kind of after market trick thing. Most riders in Utah own motorcycles because there the in thing. Very, very few could identify a motorcycle if you covered up the name plate.

Looks cool Bently ... May i ask what the tank with the blue AN fitting is for ? My guess alky injection tank ?
Bently i'm thinking when you get the clutch to hook up it going to be a wheely monster ... Jesses bike at 60 inches was a hand full to keep the front wheel on the track... Good part it will not get much wear ..lol...
