ZX14 Mistakes, List things you did wrong
My biggest mistake was extending my stock arm without a cut out for the fuel pump or air tank build in arm for air shifter, I cant sit bike as low as I would like & have no good place to mount air tank. Anyone have any info on problems with there kill boxes or air shifters.

When installing the Muzzy aluminum fan, make sure that before you tighten the attach bolts to the radiator you move the fan assy down as far as possible on the radiator. I didnt, and my new larger fan blades contacted the plastic cover/air flow diverter that rests on top of the radiator. Not only did it chew a hole through it (no big deal it turns out), but more importantly it bent up the fan blades enough that I had to take it back out and recontour them to get rid of the out of balance vibration.
I also made the mistake of buying used slipons because I couldnt afford a full exhaust. Waste of money, now they are just taking up shelf space and I'm out $350.
Buying a K&N filter because it was available at my local parts store. Side by side with a BMC, its readily apparent the BMC flows more air for roughly the same price...

zx14 I use a 9oz bottle mounted on the left side of the tail. I removed the signal relay bracket and mounted the relay under the seat.

Slid the forks up .75inch......if you think the fairing drags at stock settings - try lowering it.
My Muzzy fan also hit the plastic at first - I later removed that part anyway.

Damaged the head of one of the secondary butterfly screws during removal. Led to having to remove the throttle bodies to get it out:

Forgot to put in the sleeve that goes between the wheel and the sprocket carrier. That caused quite a bit of damage:

Live and learn....I hope.

LOL YES!! i lost a few of the clear washers myself. I feel like the bike is so ghetto now. I also bought a tank protector that was for an R1. needless to say my tank is all SCUFFED, where my gut lays, lol i also installed a custom exhaust. and i had to make spacers for the rear pegs. oh yeah, i ALSO lost 2 screws for the rear cowl. ALSO, the lower fairing came apart while i was flying down the highway, and got wedged into the exhaust header. i didnt notice until i was a stoplight miles ahead and smelled buirning plastic. IM SO FUCKED lol

I forgot about that damn TRE fiasco...
Anyone looking for a 006 TRE? Cheap! $20 its yours.
I'm serious 'bout that price though.
Oh yeah, DO NOT USE A FORK STAND UNLESS YOU HAVE THE SPECIFIC TO THE ZX14 PIN!!! The stock universal kit pin that physically fits the hole will punch a hole through your radiator when it pops out half way up.

what other than a complete asshole, would wreck a helmet by cutting off the strap to steal it?.....
I can understand theiving( but would never condone it), but wrecking shit for the sake of wrecking is fucked up... would become a turnip if I caught em, even if it wasn't my property...

When installing Factory Pro velocity stacks, I left the stock air box/frame seals in place like a dumbass. Had to pull it all back apart and remove the seals. May not have happened had the new stacks come with instructions.
Not securing my tool box one time in my trailer. It worked its way against my fairing and slowly started gouging it as I was coming home from the track...DOH!!!

The 14's stock front fender will hit before the tire does if you try and load it into a pickup. Gotta take it off first.

Unless you are pressed for space in tray, try putting a decent chunch or sawn timber infront of the wheel that is just lower than the fender to space it out a bit, or...... Change it to a ZX10 front fender..

Did a half ass job making my own tail tidy for my 14 result… the plate and bracket fell off on a ride and somehow jammed between the back wheel and the frame at 150 tore the shit out of the plate and scratched up the frame...
The big one was a few years ago, let a “buddy” I had just met take my new ZX12R around the block for a ride (said he had been driving bikes for years). Turns out he didn’t have a license and had only ever driven dirt bikes, probably a factor in why he drifted in the first corner and hit the outside curb (not a lot of damage but it still cost me (yes me) 2K to fix it back to new).
