I picked my radiator up from the local radiator shop. The guy fixed the pin hole and only charged me $20. It does have a repair spot that looks like a weld bead, but it not that noticable and I blasted the radiator and repainted it with hi-heat engine block paint. Looks brand new.

I re-installed everything, using a bottle of water wetter along with almost a full gallon of pre-diluted anti-freeze. Ran the bike 100 or so miles Saturday evening and about 200 miles Sunday. Temps Satruday evening were in the low 90's around 11pm and temps on Sunday were around 106 at 2-3pm when we left town. I noticed the bike ran 1 bar cooler at night. During the heat of the day, it ran 2 bars cooler. Usual during the heat of the day, I sit on the bar right below the top.

I am paranoid riding now. I keep smelling my bike running hot like the radiator is overflowing. All the fluid levels are where they should be, so I can only assume it is part of my imagination and a little of the leftover fluid from the original leak still smoldering on hard to reach parts of the motor......

just fyi for those interested.......

No change in temps with the rad gaurd guys..... just piece of mind...mine caught a rock at over 100 mph while passing a car, and then I felt something warm on my legs...
The rotors and frt brake, frt tire were covered as was the rear tire... if my leg wouldn't have gotten wet, causing me to pull over and chaeck it out, It likely would have taken me down, if not OUT!

Get a guard!
