This goes out to the good drag racers.
I went to the track for the first time. Its not easy. Its so much u most concentrate on. You guys that run good times diffenently have my respect. I see the difference in the average rider and those that are on top. I made 17 passes on a 1/8 mile track. I looked at a Ricky Gadson video for some tips before i went. I must admit he makes it look easy. I made so many mistakes that i had to learn from. I spun the wheel in the water to much. To the point when i went to do a burn out the rear fender was dripping water and the tire wouldnt smoke. I tried to launch the bike like i would on the street. The bike keep spining even with a u soft shinko at 20lbs. I have all the usually mods 5 over, geared 1 down 2 up, pc3, pingel shifter, strap, no flies, smeg and pull dwn strap. Also was running 89 oct with a stiffer rear coil. Im 243 and lowered the tire pressure to 15lbs to see if it would make a difference. I couldnt get my 60ft time lower at all. I was ranging from 1.59 to 1.60 which is not all the good. Since im new to this i was trying to figure out. My first pass was a 6.4. I have my coil set up alittle soft for the bike to grab on the street. At 20 lbs on the street it grabs no problem leaving at 2500. At the track it wouldnt work. I was getting frustrated because i could make the bike grip. On the last pass the track was repreped for the bracket racing. With the same 60ft of 1.6 i ran a 6.3 with a mph of 112. I dont understand how i could run a better time with a slow mph. The fast i ran on mph was 115 and i think it was a 6.5. Anyway alot of the veteran racers said i did a good job for a beginer. I dont know about that because its not were i want to be. Like i said u guys that run those good times definitly have my respect.

Sounds like, first and foremost, you had a good time. And you did damm good, especially for the first time. Nothing makes you feel better and go faster then seat time. Keep it up.

Shit, bone stock i'm having hell getting my 60ft down. I've only made 8 passes on the bike, but it's hard for me to imagine getting much better than my 1.62 out of it. All i can say is Practice, practice practice practice practice... that's my goal lol.
