Leathers???

Are most of you wearing leathers at the track. If so, any suggestions? How about the summer Joe Rocket -type jackets and pants?

I like alpinestars and dainese products. joe rocket stuff is great too. there are a lot higher end products, but I use my stuff and can't justify the extra cost.

dianese 1st day I had them:

alpinestars first time at the race track:

bates leathers are some of the best for drag racing light and custom made to fit you, unfortenatly expensive and take forever to be made/shipped to your door.

I'm hoping to purchase some leathers fairly soon. I guess I was asking if anyone wore the hot weather armored/mesh type jackets and apparel at the track? Or would you just get ground up if you went down at that speed?

i run 1/8th mile and most places only require a jacket and boots. I've worn my scorpion cool rod mesh to the track. Now, I've got an old set of dainese leathers that my friend crashed in a few times at the track and gave to me.

I bought a set of joerockets, and I dig them. Well made, and great bang-4-buck.

A friend of mine used to say this about helmets "if you've got a cheap head then get a cheap helmet". I guess the same philosophy equally applies to leathers. I know there's freedom of choice to consider but I have seen the scars left by a jacket riding up and allowing bare flesh to contact the track. I would never use anything other than full leathers, the best I could afford.

At the last meeting it was so hot that by lunchtime I could wring sweat out of my one-piece suit but later that day a member of our club came off at speed, over 130mph we think and high quality leathers prevented a fatality!

there are great leathers at a decent price. alpinestars/dainese/joe rocket/vansen/bates are all priced decent, and all have proven themselves in arenas such as motogp/ama/ etc etc. whichever one has a closeout clearance for the next year is perfect for me to scrape down the asphalt in turn "X"

My next purchase for my bike was going to be some slip ons, but I think I've changed my mind and will start looking for some leathers instead. I know I will be going to the track some, and I know they will be a good investment. I've thought later after a spur of the moment runoff with some dude in the middle of the night how unprotected I was with just the joe rocket armored mesh and jeans. You get that chill going. So leathers coming up. Thanks for all the info.
