1/4 Mile Times

What times are you guys running with 16/41 gearing on stock wheelbase? What about 16/42? Just got my bike back from the shop. Lowered 1.25", GPR Steering stabalizer, Brock Short Megaphone, PCIII USB. I'm headed to the track with 16/41 to start but don't know what to expect.

Thanks in advance.

You need to tell these guys your vital stats: how long, your weight, altitude of track. Then they can throw out all kinds of estimates. Without that you could be 10.8 seconds or 9.2 seconds or about anything inbetween. Or most likely 11's and high 10's until you get the hang of the launch...

I stick with street riding because I really dont want to know how pitiful I am.

Well i can't tell you what numbers your are going to run ...But i can tell you that 16/41 you will be doing some nice wheelys ....Stock wheel base go with 17/41 or 17/40 that will help you not to wheely so much ... It will still wheely but the gear kills some of the unwanted wheelys in first gear .. Brocks bike ran 9.0s with pro riding with 17/40 gears ... I ran a 9.18 with stock gears 17/41 ... You will need some seat time to run them numbers but it can be done with your set up ... You have the power to do it you just need to learn how to use the power ... Let us know how you do at the track ...

Thanks Smokin,

Sound like I should start with the 17/40 setup. I'll give it a try and give you an update. I live in Dallas but the race track is in Oklahoma.

I appreciate the helpful input!

if you live in dallas, why don't you get the hang of running again by going to redline in caddo mills on friday night for fun and grudge? There's usually a pretty decent turnout of 1000's out there to beat up on, and It hooks really well at stock wheelbase. It's only a 1/8th mile track, but after that you're just remembering to stay tucked tight and clicking off gears.

I've made 9.84 @ 142mph running stock wheelbase and 17/40 gearing. I lack Quarters seat time too, I usually run in top speed events. Wheelies were not a problem.

There's also Denton.

Wheelie was going there last Friday - don't know if he made it - maybe we can get a report from him.

As soon as some things get out of boxes and attach themselves to my 14, I plan to be going to the track often.

yes I went to Denton Friday night, track was great for a few hours, not many race cars, lots of front wheel drive cars dragging water to the line from the waterbox. only one lane was hooking, with more cars with slicks track would be fine.

Im not going back to Redline! your the first person ive heard say that. its happened every time I went there, you sit and wait for cars to hot lap, or you just have to wait till he decides he will let the bikes go. Anybody else have this problem at Redline but me?

I've always ran stock gearing (17/41) on my bike. I have heard that 17/40 is good and also been told that 17/42 is a good gearing to run for some mph at stock wheelbase. I have been as quick as 9.38 but usually run 9.44-9.50.
