engine sputtering

Back again, with another question. here's the issue. 07 14 started sputtering as if timing was off or wasnt getting enough fuel. almost felt like a misfire. so i pull over rev the engine a little and i notice that there was alot of backfire on decel of revving. i do have a pc3. i shut the bike off for about a min started it back up and it seemed to be back to normal. THE QUESTION. could this have been a issue with the pc3 or fuel system, or maybe just a fluke? anyways if any body has any info on this issue, please share with me.

i figuered it out. last night when i got home i took off the plastics and removed the resevior, put a washer on the groung coming from the pc3, made sure everything was tight, anyways cranked the bike back up and same problem. so i thought what have i tampered with lately. i recently installed some led's and had to remove the battery. when doing this there is a connector right in front of the battery that has to be unplugged for the battery to slide out. anyways, this connector was not fully connected and was causing the problem. i cant really tell if this thing was some kind of ground or what. but it was making the bike sputter and bike fire like crazy.

Black and yellow stripe wire is a ground wire by the battery.
