Muzzy's Truth in Advertising. (M14)

Yo!

I came online today after my final Dyno run only to find that whole other 'Truth' thread, what a fiasco.

As many of you know, the speculation over the M14 started minutes after it was introduced. I especially paid attention to the "Tested at over 200hp" and made several posts regarding that point. I was worried if that was on the 1400+ motors or what.

Muzzy's assured us that the HP numbers on Stock and modified numbers would be where we wanted them. it was a tough choice for me; we had two great products to chose from Brocks and Muzzy's.

I decided to go with Muzzy's due to his decades of supporting the Kawasaki brand and it's riders.

Muzzy's customer service was excellent, Dave was prompt in his email replies and answered every question I tossed at him. He even sent me the M14 map to poke at before my purchase was made.

The order was placed on a Friday and the pipe was shipped on a Monday.
The packaging was great, I got to use my favorite Severtech knife to wreak havoc on the packing foam.
Instructions were spot on, they even gave me some warnings on what to expect and watch out for. I got extra spacers/shims if needed, some anti-seize and plenty of heat shielding for the #4 pipe and also stuckies for the plastics.

The install went smoothly, not a single glitch. It felt like they used my bike for the fitting.
the M10 bolted up nicely and fitted to the M14 like a glove.

Today's Dyno run netted me 14+ hp gain over stock. From what I was reading on the net I was expecting 7 to 10 hp gain, I was extremely happy with 14+.

Here's the before/after dyno runs ....

I'm not an employee of Muzzy's, but I'm now just a simple happy customer. I've "been to bat" just once with Muzzy and I hit a homerun with their product. In light of that 'other' thread I'd like to point out that often times it's the 'exception' that make it on the net, not the norm.

I'm looking forward to dealing with Muzzy's in the future, and if I have any problems I'll give them a call and work it out with them. No worries here.

Peace ....

I don't know why anyone would complain about one exhaust or another. All bikes are different and all exhaust will produce different numbers. Even the same bike with the same exhaust on back to back runs.

I'm sure exhaust companies have an allowable 2-3hp variance in each exhaust. A little extra packing or a little less can change backpressure and change the output. Factor that with all bikes having that same 3-5hp variance and you can get a pretty big difference in numbers with the same type of bikes and exhausts.

So ... my next question is how to get closer to the 200hp mark.

What setup/mods are you 200hp folks doing? Is it elevation, gas or something else?

I see sig's with mod's the same as mine claiming 200+ hp. /pout

Yo Shane!

Hey, I'm sorry you and I had totally different experiences with Muzzy, we are on the opposite sides of the coin on that one. It seems things like that only happen when you really really really need the part and inna hurry.

After the smoke has settled let me know how you like your M14.

That's at the crank at sea level. Can anyone claim its BS??? Probably not because stock was somewhere around 195hp at the crank. I'm sure my full muzzy and PC3 gave me more than 5hp.

No doubt the muzzy pipe is good to go, but I was truely expecting something bigger. My '06 made the identical numbers on the same dyno with a brock Gen 3@ 4000ft. I doubt there is a more than two or three hp difference between my Gen3 and my SMEG conversion(Sheer speculation on my behalf...). So it seems to me that the Muzzy and the Brock are about the same...except Brock is a site contributer.

Regardless, its apples to oranges without my stock run to compare it too, same day, temp, humudity, etc.

I'm guessing you like your M14....and thats all that counts.
