started my trip today
Well, so far so good. I left paris tx early this morning, had breakfast in abeline, and am hanging out with some family for a little while here in lubbock and then I'm out on the road again. With the exception of the 95 degree temps and the 30mph crosswind it's been a pretty smooth trip. The helibars risers and johar foam grips were a great addition, but for long trips it would be nice to have the buell pegs and a softer seat. I am very pleased with the mileage thus far. My worst tank was 40.1 mpg, and my best was 47.8 all were run at 75-90 mph. I've got to start getting ready to go again I want to do about 260 more miles today.

Sounds like fun. Ride safe and stand clear of the rocks/pebbles off those big trucks!

I'm taking a quick break here in lordsburg new mexico right now. I'm about 530 miles into it today and about 170ish from tucson. Anyone on here from tucson? I wouldn't be opposed to meeting up and having some food and a beer or something this evening.

Yesterday was miserable... I ended up getting a late start and rode through the desert in the middle of the day with about a 50-60 mph crosswind. You know how when you go out and corner really hard you get the little curly pieces of rubber on the sides of your tire? Well I had those from riding in a straight line lmfao. All in all it was a good trip. The ride through ruidoso nm was great, and if I hadn't almost been run off the side of the mountain by a woman in a suburban talking on her cell phone, the mountains going into san diego would have been fun. I don't know that I would ever want to do 1600 miles in 3 days again without a different seat, but the 14 is definitely a missile on the interstate. It will do 95 mph effortlessly and get 40-45 mpg doing so. I would say if anyone is going to do a long ride they should invest in the ogio tanker magnetic tank bag. It's big enough to carry everything you need, you can lean on it comfortably, and it doesn't get in the way. It's also rock solid at an indicated 170 which is probably more like 153 mph. Countersteer, was it you that was doing a long ride soon?

I'm jealous as well. I was supposed to be riding from NJ to Atlanta this Friday, returning Sunday for Female Sport Bike Weekend but that is not gonna happen thatnks to my slow ass dealership. I will redeem myself for sure. I can say this much, the roads and scenery on the West Coast is a lot nicer than here. I had to do a drive for work from Tuscon to Vegas, then from Vegas to Murray (Salt Lake City), Utah then back down to Tuscon and I could think of is if I had my bike...
