zx14 vs. deer

i was out for a nice little fathers day ride when 3 deer decided they needed the road more than i did. they walked right out into my lane and stopped! i couldn't go around because of a truck in the oncoming lane so i scrubbed as much speed as i could before i bullseyed the smallest one(right behind the front shoulder for any non-hunters) the impact spun it around and into the side of me which forced me of the road and into the ditch. somehow i managed to ride it out and never went down but i took a hell of a shot to my left lower leg and may go for x-rays later. also got hit in the elbow, lower ribs and hip but not as severe as the leg. mechanically the bike should be good(had to ride 25 miles home) but is gonna need a shit load of plastic. here are the pics

Glad you are safe and I bet it was one heck of a ride. Not many would have kept the bike up. From the looks of your side fairings, it appears you literally knocked the shit out of the deer. What a difference a couple decades makes, used to be around here, there were very few deer, now they come in herds.

Be careful running deer whistles... you may notice that a lot more deer run out in front of you with them on. I know that's the case here.

Hmm. Think I'll try that this hunting season. They make a gun rack for a zx-14?

I nearly plowed a deer last fall when heading home at 2am and was passing a semi on a dark backroad. Deer ran out in front of me and froze! At 100+mph it was all I could do to make it around it. Not the first time I nearly hit a deer, but it definitely was at the fastest speed!

Glad you got through it - hope the rest of you is ok after x-rays.
Why is there always a truck in the other lane?

PS.
Thanks for NOT posting pictures of what the deer looked like...

thanks for the well wishes everyone. sorry,no pics of the deer cuz the little bastard didn't die as far as i now. if it had been a virginia deer it would been smart enough to get out of the road(just kidding for any w.v. riders) it sucks to have hit a deer but i also feel lucky because i didn't have to ride in an ambulance or tow truck. i decided a long time ago that motorcycles are very dangerous and that thrill plus the sense of freedom while i ride are why i ride and i will do so untill i die or am unable. hopefully that will be a long time from now but i don't draw the cards the big man does. this has been a mere scratch compared to other motorcycling accidents i've had and i expect to be pain free within a week or two. the bike will be thoroughly checked over and back on the road as soon as possible. untill then i've still got this to ride

When you see $h!+ in the road you say "Oh Dear," but when you see deer in the road.............
