Anyone else other than Smokin have a 08 zx10?
I have been posting about how I want to trade my 14 on a 10 and smoking is the only one to reply. He states to keep the 14 but then again he has both. I know everyone likes the 14 if you are on a 14 forum but how many liter bike owners have a 14 and would give up your liter bike for short rides 150 miles or less?

I'm new to this board (1st post) and I don't know if this helps but I currently own an '05 ZX10. The bike is an blast to ride. I'm 46 and have been riding since 1984 and I've never owned a bike that is so fun to ride. Acceleration and cornering ability are the best I've ever experienced.
I lived in Southern California and recently moved to eastern PA. The roads are ok here but not nearly as good as the SoCal roads. I'm looking to get a ZX14 as I used to have a Hayabusa and enjoyed it alot. The ZX14 might suit the roads here better. Less corner carving.
But am I trading in or selling my ZX10 - not a chance. I may have that bike forever. The new 1K's continue to get heavier and I love how light my '05 is. I spent a weekend racing around Laguna Seca with my SoCal buddies a couple years ago and riding that ZX10 around that track is one of the best memories I have. My wife even thinks it's a cool bike.
The ZX10 is an awesome bike. I haven't ridden the new one but I doubt it much different than mine. If you can afford it and like the looks (I like the '04, '05 looks better) I say buy it. They're a blast to ride.

I live in western Pa and I just turned 34. I always want the baddest shit and can never afford it. Every bike I have owned I have had a loan on and never pay them off. I currently owe about 6k on my 07 14 I have put 7k on it in under 1 year. I have done everything I wanted to do to the bike to make it mine and I really like it. But, I love handling and I love ripping through the back roads. I have no problem making payments on stuff because thats the way the world works. I appreciate the input Busa13. I will tell you this the 14 runs a ton better than the old busa but that new busa is something.

I love it, but...........not cost effective when insurance is added. If it were for track only....maybe.....
And it is so damn small...........

Nothing to report yet ...It's been so hot i haven't been back to the track with the zx10 ...The only thing i can tell you is for me the zx10 is a torcher rack ... I rode it last Sat night for 200 miles and my left hand is still numb today ...I also had a sore neck for 2 days ...The zx14 i can ride all day with no problems ....Yes the zx10 is very very fast and it's a damn good thing it's fast because i want to get there fast and get the hell off of it ...

I rode a gunmetal grey ZX10 (04' or 05 I guess that was the year) a friend has that lives near by. He was scared to ride my bike because he feels its too fast for him. I got on the 10 and was very impressed. I mean front end catching air with 9in over arm and a shinko street slick 003. I pulled in the yard and gave him the look too fast huh. The accel. was real niiiiccce. The only thing that had me kind of worried was looking down through the dash at the ground and seeing that tar move so fast. Also, as far as the seating position I could not cope with it for a long ride or around town. Fast bike though!

If you put the clip ons above the triple tree after lowering the front and back, the 06-07 is much more comfortable

I have a 2006 ZX-14 and a 2008 ZX-10R. Just replaced my 2005 ZX-10R with the 2008. So I've had both bikes for a while. I have enjoyed riding both of them. But the '08 10 is such a big improvment I enjoy it much more than the 14. Actually the 14 will be going up for sale soon. I'm 59 6'2" and take 300mile rides a couple times a month. It tuff but a blast thats all I can say. I have never felt so comfortable, handling wise than on the 10.

Tough comparison, apples to oranges and all.
Too bad Kawi had to add so much power to the 10, doing so took alot away from the 14, makes me wonder why they even have the 14 since it's now religated to Concourse status.
Funny about the 14 though. Its a very easy bike to ride fast in a straight line, and to do mild cornering, but it goes from easy to difficult too handle in a matter of maybe 5 degrees lean angle.
I'm still learning it myself, and have drastically improved my cornering performance on it, but I am constantly annoyed/surprised by how technical it is to ride it fast. Even with the aftermarket suspension mods.
I truly got spoiled by my TL1000R Suzuki, it was one of the few bikes that could make a 4 cylinder 1000 look slow in the corners, and I got used to riding that big bastard like a 600. Should have kept it I guess... just wasnt riding it once I got the 14. Now I find the better riders I ride with that have 600's pulling away from me in the corners like I used to pull away from them.
Until the next straightaway, or the next gas station when I dont need gas and they do, or when they have to unkink themselves off of there bikes at every stop, complaining about sore wrists and numb butts whereas I'm itching to keep going.
Oh yeah, almost forgot. When is the last time you said the words "Want to trade bikes for the next section?" and EVERY SINGLE HEAD within earshot turned to you, hoping you were asking them? I practically had to force guys to ride my TLR, and it was tricked out. Not the 14 though, every pilot wants some seat time!
Then I tell them I was just kidding... like taking candy from a baby. lol

lol Time to find a higher class of rider Butter. I've always been lucky there, but I've seen SO MANY riders that thought they were fast because the group they were riding with was extra slow, and then they rode with me and Krukov...
Time for you to start sharing that knowledge with them and bring them up to your level. Because if you are hanging with or beating 600's in the corners, your skill level is more than a few notches higher than theres.
Oh yeah, +1 on showing them how a 14 can handle. lol

I have an 06 14 and an 06 GSX-R1000. I chose the Gixxer because I found it had (and still does for 08) the best seating position and comfort within the liter bike class. If I had to choose just one - well, that would suck...lol. I have the 14 set up for the drag strip and the 1000 is a commuter, canyon carver type. But if I had to give one up, I think I'd be keeping the 14 - best factory clutch ever and, although the Gix has good rider ergos, the 2-up comfort is hands down better on the 14 than any liter bike (if that matters).
