Doesn't matter what is done to the bike because it's a US Gov ordered Recall....You could drive it in on fire and they still have to do the recall ...

If not I will not post it.

fury,

I'm not clear on how exactly you've experienced "1 month down". Have you actually received the notice in the mail? From the time of receipt of that notice, have you successfully made an appointment to have your bike checked? You called two dealers and neither of them will check the bike? I find that completely implausible. Is there some reason a dealer wouldnt check your bike you're not telling us, ie: your bike a grey market bike, or say you were rude to them and told them you were going to sue everyone before they even tried to check your bike? Also clarify for everyone here if you're talking to KMC or CKM (noting that you're not stateside, but Canada in your profile)

When and if your bike passes or fails, check back in... till them you're just being unreasonable IMHO.

I got my invite today as well, had a slight meltdown, then called the dealer I got my bike from (about 75 miles from home). He said to call Monday and they'd get me in ASAP to check it. He actually made me feel a lil better...........Hopefully all is OK.

I am going to visually check the area tomorrow, AND put the stock links back on. I know they have to check it,anyway, but it isn't that big of a deal to put the stock links back, just to cover my ass.
Now what about the pipe and programmer??? Do these dealers play the warranty games like the 4 wheel vehicles? Tag your VIN as void cause of mods they see???? Just curious, if anyone has had or heard of issues.

I guess misery DOES like company. and I ain't alone on this one.

Thanks for the info.

I got my notice a couple days ago. My friend works at a dealership close by and he said I will have to drop it off for them to check it out. I wish I could just ride it there and let them do their thing and ride it back, but I guess that won't happen. It's supposed to rain quite a bit this week, so I guess it's a good a time as any to take it on up there. I hope my baby is ok.

I just finished editing the recording from CKM.

I have been screwed a few times. (each time I have walked away)

Text is a very cold way to communicate. You get no sense of how I am feeling. Body language is important in communication. Alot is missed or mis interpreted.

I know how much people have put into these machines. I know how much they enjoy them. I really enjoy my bike. As stated prev - Puts a smile on my ass!
But when you are screwed around by 2 dealers and you call Kawi and their rep says what would you like me to do? I can only advise others of my exp. Kawi I hope sends out a bulletin and lets their dealers know they cannot and will not refuse to look at a machine. Work with your customers. Customer retention is very important.

fury,

I'm not clear on how exactly you've experienced "1 month down". **I was told the bikes were going to be on recall. I have been off the road for over 3 weeks now.** Have you actually received the notice in the mail? **No they have the wrong mailing address** From the time of receipt of that notice, have you successfully made an appointment to have your bike checked? **That has been the issue. Trying to get the bike into a dealer to look at it. 2 refuesed. 1 due to boating season. He is busy now** You called two dealers and neither of them will check the bike? **1 not competent enough 1 2 busy with marine*** I find that completely implausible. Is there some reason a dealer wouldnt check your bike you're not telling us, ie: your bike a grey market bike, or say you were rude to them and told them you were going to sue everyone before they even tried to check your bike? ** Sorry havent been rude. ** Also clarify for everyone here if you're talking to KMC or CKM (noting that you're not stateside, but Canada in your profile)** prev posts I did note CDN** IE prev post posted June 03, 2008 02:37 PM I just called the cdn side. I hope my bike is not included...

Your answers are NOT clear... I cant understand your post... It's simply bizarre in its wording, grammar.

You never answered this important question:

Is your bike a grey market bike (ie: US import into canada)?

FYI - reading a rumor on the internet that a bike may be recalled in another part of the world doesnt mean that you, being in a different country, can claim foul and stop riding your bike for 3 weeks. Until you receive official written notice + confirmation from Kawasaki in your part of the world (in this case CKM - Canadian Kawasaki Motors) you can't complain about being put out.

I really take offense to you getting online and making blanket statements about Kawasaki as a whole when you clearly have a unique circumstance limited to a different country in another part of the world.

Rumor? No. An acquaintance informed me. I did not mention this.( I know you are not a mind reader.)
Needless to say this is why I contacted Kawi and requested the address the bike was registered to. I tried to correct this but they would not do it over the phone. I was asked to goto my dealer to correct the mailing address issues. She just asked me to call tomorrow and she would be able to inform me if there was in deed a recall. She could not comment at that time.
I will never recieve written notice due to the fact they sent it to my address and not my box.
CP will not deliver to my road side box.
Grey market? I bought it from a Dealer in Ont Canada.
I am terribly sorry you took offence to my statements.
Do you work for Kawi?
Why would you take offence to my statements?
I tried to communicate clearly how I got the run around from 2 dealers.
My grammar... hehe... Your wording is very eloquent. I did not understand that my grammar was on trial. I apologize for my lack of respect for the english language.

Gentlemen.

Thanks for posting all of this... As you can see, I corrected your misquote of me - don't try misquoting the Admins

Now... to the issue at hand... You're proving my point... First of all, you "heard" about the recall through a rumor. Second, your address information is not up to date with Kawasaki, and third, you only found out about this NOT even a week ago. In fact you tell all of us you heard about this on June 3rd (see quote above) - that's not even a week ago, and not even THREE BUSINESS DAYS AGO.

My point is this (and no, I don't work for Kawasaki or any other OEM) ... You (as a customer) are obligated to allow the OEM (any OEM) to remedy a problem in a reasonable time frame. Since you have yet to even receive a document from them informing you of the recall (through your own negligence by not keeping your address info up to date), you can have no complaint about that. It's your fault they can't get a hold of you, not theirs.

Further, since you found out about this only a few days ago, and have now made an appointment to have you bike inspected (and note, this is only an inspection), it seems as though you are receiving an excellent level of customer service and attention given the large amount of motorcycles involved in the recall/inspection.

If you were told to wait for several months, then I could see having a valid point, but complaining and threatening to sue because they'll check out your bike before you even received a written notice about it? Not only do you sound unreasonable, but you actually sound like a jerk.

My $2 werth.

FYI - you can't use recordings of conversations as evidence unless the other party knows they're being recorded in advance. Maybe they'll be suing you! Think twice before you post that stuff!

It's not the frame that is defective...It's is the Possiblity of an over torq engine spacer that causes the frame to crack .....The replacement frame if needed will be an 08 frame ...Now if you over torq the 08 frame it's going to crack just like the 06 07 frame ...
. The odds are very good you will never have a problem....Take your bike in and get it checked, chances are it will be in spec and you will be on your way ...

Well here I am over a month now with my bike sitting at the dealership waiting to have the frame swapped out. The service manager said that there was "something" brewing with Kawasaki and I guess it was this recall. I believe I am that fifth bike that pushed this whole thing into recall. I dropped my bike off in early May. The recall came in May. They said my frame would be a "2008" frame and that they would re-stamp it with my original VIN. For a minute I thought I would have to re-register a "new" bike.I ordered over $1500 in goodies to go on or in while it's apart. Some the dealer will install for me. Some I told them I will install because the labor was ridiculous on them. Other than that, they told me I'm realistically at the 3rd week in June. Over a month and a half without my bike. I'm trying to ride to Atlanta at the end of the month for a major bike function and I was hoping to have more "what if" time. Good luck to you all who have gotten your notice. I hope my bad luck mabye saved someone's life on here.

Crazy!

Good on you for being considerably more patient than the Canuckian guy

Please read posts below.

***Blanket response?***
1st post posted June 03, 2008 02:37 PM I just called the cdn side. We should know something by the end of the week.
I hope my bike is not included...
fingers crossed...

posted June 05, 2008 06:37 PM Well.
I got the call.

***I called my X kawasaki Dealership.
Sad really. The sales man was good.
Service manager killed the relationship.***

I have multiple recordings of the foolishness I had to go thru to get my bike looked after.
The recording of Kawasaki's agent is unreal. She didnt care. By the end of the conversation all I stated was just so you are aware all my conversations have been recorded.
This did not seem to make much of a change. I didnt really care. All I stated was if I did not get this resolved I would forward my recordings to my lawyer.

***Long and short I have an appoint ment with another dealer that allowed me to watch as they strip the bike.***

They will start by checking torque specs. Mark the bolts with a marker and loosen them then re-tork to specs. If it dont line up. Strip the bike and check for cracks... I hope all goes well.
I will let u know next week.

I have been hearing something funky since I put the bike back on the road.
I have a very short riding season. If I have to wait a week it will be to long. I havent ridden the bike since this post.
According to the rep only 1 person has had an issue. I know of three from this board. Anyone choose to comment?

***This post was in regards to another users statement.***

posted June 06, 2008 10:28 AM My advice.
Have the bikes inspected.
If they do not have time to service the bike. (Record all conversations if it is legal in your area.)
Call your lawyer.

Not your issue.

*** Just in case others were haveing the same run around I was getting***

***My last post.***

quote:Yep, lifes too short to dick around on this. If they want to pull your motor or more, just get a lawyer and pay him some moola to put the heat on kawi. They buy back your bike and you can move on For me the money for the lawyer would be well spent

Why would you get a lawyer, and what would you sue for? It's not unusual for an OEM to have a recall, and if Kawi says they'll make your bike right if they find a problem, I can't see what legal leg you'd have to stand on.

***I have been told by 2 dealers they have no time for this.***
My problem?

Poor reception.

Poor service.

This does reflect on Kawi.

Why would you sue? 4 month riding season.
1 month down.
Loan payments on said machine. (no use)
Why would you sue?
I am pretty easy going guy. Impatient when I get screwed around.
If there is a problem with the product no dealer should be able to say "sorry this is our busy season" Not our problem. Have a nice day.
Why would you sue?

****Sorry for the rant. But it felt good.****
The recordings I have from Kawi upset me even more...
Her response. So what do you want me to do? HELP E GET MY BIKE FIXED...
Why would I sue.
I am going to try to edit the recording. (delete my name and shit and post it 4 u guys.)
Will see if I can do it good enough.
If not I will not post it.

***New subject***

Then our witty conversation took place.
I was hoping you could see I did not just blanket Kawi.
I did point out I called the cdn side of kawi to get my information.
I did point out I got the bike from a cdn dealer.
I did point out I was refused by 2 dealers.
I did point out I talked to kawi a couple times.
I did point out my experience trying to get my bike in for service.
I did point out I did finally get a reputable dealer to look at my bike.

My grammar sucked. I will pay close attention in the future to all my posts.

Gentlemen.
Take care.

Sorry I just corrected your grammar.
Never again.

A jerk. ( I except.)

I have offered you proof of my claims in the forms of recordings.
You attack me every post.

I will not win this disagreement.

I agree to disagree.

Take care.

If I post anything further I may loose an individuals job.

This recall is already a touchy subject and I'm appauled that a dialog illistrated above would show so much compound negative energy. Do we really have to nickle and dime people here? Wasteful....bump, I got my letter in the mail Saturday and I must admitt I'm not fond of the idea of having the dealer take my bike apart and put it back with potential quality issues. I have already lost some fairing screws when they put my bike together the first time. Now I bought some custome black screws don't want them to back out.
