Got some new wheels!

Well my quest to have a really fast, basically stock looking bike has added yet another phase. I purchased some carrozzeria wheels and just had them installed. I got gold just so I can stand out and not have the "norm" chrome or polished wheels. (I can't stand any gixxer on chrome and its bad because you see 20 of those a day.) Some may like, most others will say the rims are ugly. To each his own. The more haters the better if you ask me. I don't mean you guys here, but all the gixxer lovers will surely dislike my new purchase. In addition to the wheels I went -1 front and +2 rear. Should get me some extra pop at the track. Previous best was 10.2@137. I'm hoping the gearing and wheels brings me down to 9.9@140 or somewhere around there. Keep in mind, I race at 3100" elevation and I weigh about 235-240 suited. Last time at the track me and the bike weighed 765lbs. Converted all to sea level and I should be able to run about 9.5 or so with a normal 150lb drag jockey running 9.1/9.2 range. Not bad for a stock wheelbase bike.

Here's the cell phone pics. More pics to follow.

Congrats. Good luck and keep us posted on times. I probably would have gotten silver rims, but I'm boring like that.

I'm not knocking you or any other gixxer rider Rick. (especially you because I love the black on black thing you have going on.) It just erks me a little to see sooooo many people buy gixxers simply because thats what their boy has. Its like lemmings jumping off a damn cliff. Its like I always wanna ask, "you do know there are better bikes out there right? Some faster, better handling, more comfortable, better looking, among probably 10 other features that suit different riders better if you actually expanded your search beyond the iconic gsxr1k." I can't see how anyone over 6' tall rides a gixxer. The fairing pokes me right in the damn shin everytime I pick my foot up to the peg on a gixxer. That one part right by the riders shin sticks out like damn 5", its gotta be the worse fairing designe ever.

Then whenever you hear someone say, "I got some new wheels." 99.5% of the time you can guarantee they are chrome or polished. I just can't follow the norm like that, I gotta be me. Thats probably 75% of the reason I chose the 14 in the first place. Because damn near everyone who saw the 14 in pictures before it was out said it was ugly. But I embraced its quirky style (foremand grills) and love the fact that it goes like stink.

Thats also why I put the black rims on my black sliverado you can see in the background of one of the pics. I just couldn't do the standard chrome like everyone. Its like you get hyped up to see someones new wheels then when you see them its like, "Oh, their chrome" such a disappointment.

You are correct. Also, matching GPR V4 stabilizer with black base and gold dial.

Haven't even had a chance to ride much with them. Its been super windy in southern AZ the last two days so not much riding has been done at all. I will give a report about the track tomorrow night though.

My bike is totally not set up for handling right now anyway. Its lowered 1.5" in the rear and the front is strapped so the suspension is all jacked for the time being. I'm sure my square 200 shinko doesn't help matters much either.

I sold rims for a company in california...

They always boasted faster lap times...
Nobody could dispute this claim.

But we knew it was rubbish.

Dont get your feathers in a knot.
Yes the bike is lighter...
But we could not prove our claims either...
Nobody could prove nothing at that time...
We think it should do x amount is what it comes down to.

Thoughts anyone...

I got the wheels from hyperbike. I know The guy that runs the forum used to run it like a jackass but you gotta go where the deals are. Terra quoted me $1739 for the wheels up front then said that the price was going up because they were custom making rims now and not making them in bulk. But she stayed firm to the $1739 she quoted me but I think they got their money back when they charged me $195 for the chain.

Total was about $2,100 shipped for wheels, front and rear sprocket and the chain.
